How much weight gain is normal during pregnancy

Gaining weight during pregnancy is very normal. However, pregnant mothers also need to pay attention. If a pregnant woman gains too much weight, it may cause the fetus to grow too fast and cause a bad delivery. So, how much weight gain is appropriate during pregnancy?

The ideal weight gain during pregnancy is a total increase of 2-4KG in the first three months of pregnancy (before 13 weeks). In the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, it is normal to gain 62-1kg per week, and the total weight gain during the entire pregnancy is 20-24kg. Pregnant women who gain more than 1.1 kg per week should adjust their daily energy intake, and their weekly weight gain should be controlled at around 1 kg.

If you are underweight, you may gain up to 25 kg during pregnancy. If you are obese or very obese, it is recommended that you control your weight gain throughout pregnancy and keep it within 15KG as much as possible. Of course, less than 10KG is also good.

There is no definite answer to weight gain during pregnancy, but try to keep it within 1KG per week. In addition, pay attention to diet when eating, not just to eat full. The purpose of pregnancy is to increase the weight of the fetus, otherwise it will cause difficulties in delivery for pregnant women.

If a pregnant woman's body mass index exceeds 30, she needs to consult a doctor. If you don't gain enough weight during pregnancy, it will result in stunted growth, restricted growth, low birth weight or premature birth of the fetus. If you gain too much weight during pregnancy, it is also easy to become a mama's boy. On the one hand, it will increase the difficulty of delivery; on the other hand, it is also very easy to cause gestational diabetes and high blood pressure.
