Is the water leaking downstairs because the waterproofing is not done well? What is going on?

We all know that house decoration is a common thing, and there are many things to pay attention to, especially the waterproof decoration. Generally speaking, the bathroom, kitchen, balcony and other places in the house need to be waterproofed. So is the water leaking downstairs because the waterproofing is not done well? Let's take a closer look!

Why is the water leaking downstairs?

The first reason is waterproofing. For example, the roof of our bathroom is leaking, mainly because the waterproofing of the bathroom upstairs is not done well. Therefore, when using the bathroom upstairs, water will seep from the floor or the root of the pipe to the roof.

The second reason is that there is water overflowing in the room. For example, if the radiator in our home leaks, or if we forget to turn off the faucet at home, the water flow will be very large, and the leaked water may flow to the floor of the living room, dining room and other rooms. If there is no waterproof material on the ground, the water will soon leak to the roof of the living room, dining room and other rooms downstairs. At this time, the roof of the living room downstairs, the room downstairs and other places will leak.

The third reason is that the pipe leaks, causing the roof below to leak. For example, the most common floor is floor heating. If the floor heating pipe leaks somewhere in the living room, then the water downstairs must have leaked to the roof of the living room, so the living room downstairs has a roof leak.

What to do if water leaks downstairs

First, the bathroom downstairs is leaking. At this time, we can turn off the water in the bathroom, temporarily not use the bathroom, and observe whether the roof downstairs is leaking. If the roof downstairs is no longer leaking, then our indoor bathroom is not waterproof. At this time, the only solution is to re-process the bathroom waterproofing. The method I personally recommend to everyone is to waterproof the gaps in the secondary bricks of our indoor bathroom, such as making tile seams or applying waterproof glue, etc.

The second situation is that we put water in the house, causing water leakage downstairs. If the water flows out from one part of our room and spreads to other parts of the room, there is no good solution except to repair the damaged part after the water dries. For example, the roof downstairs is bubbling, so it is necessary to hand over the roof downstairs to someone else to apply putty, paint latex and other repair methods for repair.

The third situation is the roof downstairs, because the water pipe in our room is leaking. For example, the most common water leak occurs in our indoor floor heating pipe. In this case, we first need to find the total leaking area, and then close the pipe valve at this location. At this time, the selected concrete will be chiseled open, and the floor heating pipe will be repaired. After the repair, a pressure test will be carried out, and it can be used only after passing the pressure test.

Recommendations for interior waterproofing

The first point is about the suggestion of waterproof area. Regarding the waterproof problem of our toilet, I suggest that we do at least two closed water tests. That is to say, do a water blocking test after the waterproofing is done, and then do another water blocking test after the tiles in the toilet are laid. Two closed water tests to ensure that our toilet is waterproof.

The second point is to pressurize all the water pipes in the house after renovation to ensure that there are no problems with these water pipes. For example, we press the heating system in the house to detect the status of the heating system; the same is true for the water pipes in our house. For the pressure applied by the above two systems, I think it is enough to reach 0.8mpa, and then observe the pressure stability for 30 minutes. The pressure drop does not exceed 0.05mpa, which basically meets the requirements.
