Can a peach tree grown from cuttings bear fruit?

Peach trees can be propagated by cuttings, but it is not recommended because the survival rate is too low. Even if they survive, they will not grow well in the later stage. It is better to sow seeds and then graft. First of all, the root system of the seedlings is very good. Then graft the good varieties. The grafting time is very high for the survival rate of peach and plum family. In this way, the variety is stable, the survival rate is high, and the fruit is fast.

How to get a high survival rate of peach tree cuttings

Peach cuttings are taken from January to February. Cuttings can be taken in small sheds and large sheds. The width of the ridge is 1 meter and the length is determined according to the amount of seedlings and the terrain. The spacing between rows and plants is preferably 10X25cm. Use healthy branches of the current year, cut into 15-18cm long, soak the lower end 3-5cm for 24 hours with 100-400mg/Kg of acetic acid, water thoroughly and insert into the ground 10-12cm.

Peach tree cutting method

Propagation by cuttings of green branches

Cuttings of young green branches are generally carried out from late May to late September. The seedbed is made with bricks slightly higher than the ground (30 cm), 120 cm wide, and the length is determined according to the measurement of cuttings. Fine river sand, vermiculite, peat soil or perlite are used as the substrate. Before cutting, the hotbed is watered thoroughly and disinfected with 0.1% potassium permanganate solution.

Cut the tender green branches of the required varieties into 30 cm segments, leaving two leaves on the top and cutting the bottom into a horse ear. When the cutting is slightly dry, immerse the lower end in 800 times solution of 50% carbendazim wettable powder for disinfection (to prevent mildew). Dip the base of the cuttings in 1000m/L indolebutyric acid solution for 5 seconds, take it out and dry it slightly, then you can start cutting. Insert 2/3 of the cuttings, water appropriately after cutting, pay attention to shade with a shade net, and water frequently.

It is best if the cuttings do not wilt. After the cuttings sprout, reduce watering and spray some nutrient solution appropriately.

Hardwood cuttings

Generally, it is carried out from October to January in spring. The substrate in the seedbed is vermiculite with a thickness of 20 cm. One-year-old branches are collected and wax-sealed before cuttings to keep them moist. In the 90-degree wax liquid, the cuttings are dipped in the wax liquid for 1 second and taken out immediately. Except for the 5 cm at the base, the rest of the cutting surface is dipped in a layer of paraffin wax to protect the cuttings from losing moisture.

Cut the top of the cutting flat and the bottom of the cutting obliquely, first soak it in 800 times carbendazim solution for disinfection, then dip the bottom of the cutting in 1000 mg/L indolebutyric acid solution for 5 seconds, and insert it into the seedbed about 4 cm deep. After survival, manage it like a tender green branch cutting and transplant it into the nursery.
