We all know that there are many ways to eat fish, and steamed fish is the most nutritious way to eat it. It tastes delicious, the meat is tender and delicious, and it tastes very good. It is very popular among people. Many people often make steamed fish. So how do you tell if steamed fish is cooked? Let's take a closer look!

How to tell if steamed fish is done

Generally, signs that steamed fish is cooked are: the fish's eyes become white and bulge, and if you poke the fish's head lightly with chopsticks, it goes in smoothly.

In most cases, to see if a fish is cooked, we usually look at whether the fish eyes turn white and bulge. But sometimes, for a fish that is too heavy, especially a fish that is not cut in half and steamed whole, even if the fish eyes turn white and bulge, the fish meat may not be cooked, and sometimes there is blood near the bones. Therefore, it is best to use the method of virtual steaming, which can steam the fish meat with the residual heat without affecting the texture of the fish meat.

The time for steaming fish is generally calculated by the amount of steam coming out of the steamer, but it also depends on the size of the fish and the firepower. There is no rigid time limit and you have to observe and control it yourself.

How to steam fish

Preparation method:

1. Kill and rinse a fish weighing about 500g, then spread a small amount of salt and cooking wine evenly on the inside and outside of the fish. Spread ginger all over the fish. If the fish is not cut in half, stuff some shredded ginger into the fish belly and marinate for 10 minutes.

2. Pour clean water into the steamer and bring it to a boil. Place the plate with fish into the steamer and steam for 8 minutes.

3. After 8 minutes, turn off the heat, immediately take out the dish, pour out the water in the dish (this water must be poured out, it is very fishy), and then evenly pour 50 grams of steamed fish soy sauce on the surface of the fish.

4. In another pot, pour in 10 grams of cooking oil, heat it up and pour it over the fish to bring out the aroma. Finally, garnish with a little chopped green onion or coriander and serve.

Tips for steaming fish

1. When pouring soy sauce on steamed fish, you can pour it around the fish instead of on the fish. Some people like light flavors, while others like heavier flavors. So pouring soy sauce around the fish can cater to everyone's taste.

2. Steam a fish weighing about 500 grams. Start steaming the fish after the water boils. It takes about 8 minutes from putting the fish into the steamer to taking it out after it is cooked.

3. When steaming fish at home, if you have time, you can often adopt the method of steaming it in 8-minute segments, that is, steam it for 4 minutes first, take it out, pour out the water in the dish, put it back into the pot, and steam it for another 4 minutes. This can greatly reduce the fishy smell of the fish.
