Among the six sex hormones, if the testosterone level is high, in general, it is due to ovarian abnormalities in women. If a man has high testosterone, it indicates that the function of the testicles is abnormal. High testosterone in women is more harmful to women, causing women to have scarce menstruation or even amenorrhea, and also causing changes in menstrual periods. In addition, it can cause ovulation disorders and lead to infertility. What are the effects of high testosterone in the six sex hormones?

Six sex hormones, high testosterone

1. Precocious puberty: refractory male precocious puberty, familial male precocious puberty;

2. Adrenal diseases: adrenal hyperplasia, adrenal tumors (adenocarcinoma is significantly increased, cystadenoma is also often increased);

3. Testicular diseases: male testicular tumors, male testicular virilization;

4. Ovarian diseases: polycystic ovarian syndrome, uterine and ovarian masculinizing tumors;

5. Others: pineal tumor, refractory hirsutism, hypothyroidism, androgen, HCG and estrogen treatment at moderate levels.

The effects of high testosterone in women are: high testosterone in women will mainly manifest as menstrual changes such as scanty menstrual blood flow, amenorrhea or abnormal uterine bleeding due to imbalanced function, ovulation function problems, and high body temperature during ovulation. After a long time of illness, some patients will have changes in male characteristics, such as more hair, enlarged Adam's apple, deep voice, etc. Some are obese, have acne, underdeveloped breasts, weak uterus, enlarged ovaries, etc. A very small number of patients will experience clitoral hypertrophy, which will affect the normal ovulation period and cause infertility.

What to do if testosterone is high

1. Drug treatment: Patients with high testosterone can choose drug treatment, the purpose is to inhibit the production of androgen or anti-androgen, control weight and remove excess hair.

High testosterone is mainly treated with Diane 35. The drug can counteract the effects of androgens and promote ovulation. It is usually taken for about 3-6 months. The medication should start from the first day of menstruation, the cycle is 21 days, and then the medication should be stopped. During the treatment period, six growth hormone tests should be carried out regularly. After the six growth hormone tests, if the condition recovers, the medication can be stopped.

Women with cystic ovary syndrome and other diseases can take metformin tablets. Generally, metformin should be taken with the first meal. Metformin controls unnecessary sugar absorption during meals to prevent weight gain. Taking Diane 35 after meals can effectively reduce testosterone levels.

2. Surgical treatment:

If the effect of medication is poor and the reduction of male hormones is not obvious, laparoscopic surgery should be considered. Under laparoscopic surgery, the eggs are punctured to reduce the level of male hormones, thus achieving the therapeutic purpose.

(1) Patients who are already pregnant and have no intention of getting pregnant again can undergo excision surgery.

(2) For patients who are expecting to become pregnant, polycystic ovaries can be removed by electrocautery or laser during laparoscopic surgery to reduce the male hormone content.

3. Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment: Adjust female hormones, repair ovaries and promote ovulation according to traditional Chinese medicine methods.

Testosterone is the main hormone that maintains male sexual characteristics, but women's ovaries and adrenaline can also produce small amounts of androgen. When a woman's testosterone level is too high, it seriously damages her ovaries, affects the formation of eggs, and ultimately causes female infertility. Too high testosterone levels will have a certain impact on pregnancy, but after treatment, most women can get pregnant naturally. Under normal circumstances, the testosterone in women's blood cells is stable within a certain range. If it exceeds the standard value, it indicates the possibility of disease. During the follicular phase of a normal physiological cycle, the average blood testosterone concentration is 0.43 ng/ml, with an upper limit of 0.68 ng/ml. If it exceeds 0.7 ng/m1 (equivalent to 2.44 nmol/L), it is called hypertestosteronuria or hyperandrogenuria.
