Classification of vulvar ulcers

1. Subacute vulvar ulcer

Ulcers often occur after scratching or when rashes break out. They are generally superficial, but the pain is intense, and they are accompanied by fever, general malaise, and swollen inguinal lymph nodes, but most of them can be cured. Subacute vulvar ulcers caused by Behcet's disease are mostly severe, with severe swelling at the ulcer site, uneven ulcer edges, digging, severe pain, and yellow pus on the ulcer surface, or the formation of pseudomembranes. Remove pus and pseudomembrane, and make the ulcer base uneven. The ulcers can develop rapidly and may lead to destruction of the labia minora, which is called the gangrenous type. Another more common type is called the non-malnutrition type. Its symptoms are milder, the onset of the disease is slower, the ulcers are numerous and shallow, and they often heal within a few weeks. However, new ulcers will appear around the old ulcers after they have healed.

2. Diffuse vulvar ulcer

Chronic vulvar ulcers are mostly caused by tuberculosis and cancer. They are often seen in the vulva or vestibular mucosa, clitoris, etc. The ulcers are small, shallow, irregular in shape, with an uneven bottom surface, and are painless, but they cause severe pain after being irritated by urine and friction. It is often necessary to make a pathological section and place it under a microscope to distinguish which type of ulcer it belongs to.
