Pain in lower right abdomen during 2 months of pregnancy

Pain in lower right abdomen during 2 months of pregnancy

Women need extra care for their bodies during pregnancy, and they also need to take extra care of themselves in their daily lives. Women are more likely to experience pain in the right lower abdomen during pregnancy, which is generally normal. If the pain is severe, a detailed examination should be done immediately. It may be a symptom of appendicitis. You should also observe whether there is bleeding and pay more attention.

Pain in lower right abdomen in 2 months of pregnancy

1. Cause 1: Hiatal hernia and reflux esophagitis

There is a group of muscles between the chest and abdomen of the body, called the "diaphragm". There is a "fissure" in the middle of the diaphragm. The esophagus slides down through this fissure to connect with the stomach. This fissure is called "esophageal hiatus". In the second half of pregnancy, as the fetus grows gradually, the intra-abdominal pressure also increases. If the fissure widens, the bottom of the stomach can be sent into the chest through the widened esophageal fissure. This is called "esophageal hiatus hernia" in medicine. Because the upper opening of the stomach is loose, gastric juice, gas, and food in the stomach can flow back into the esophagus or mouth. Gastric juice irritates the esophageal mucosa, and reflux esophagitis occurs. This can cause abdominal pain in expectant mothers. This situation occurs occasionally.

2. Reason 2: Late-stage miscarriage

The key point of late miscarriage is the occurrence of abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding after 12 weeks of pregnancy. The process of late miscarriage is similar to childbirth. At first there are waves of uterine contractions and abdominal pain, followed by placental separation and bleeding. Therefore, the situation is more serious than early pregnancy miscarriage, but generally late miscarriage rarely occurs.

3. Reason 3: Ovarian cyst distortion

When women are pregnant, common uterine and ovarian tumors include corpus luteum cysts, malformed fetal cysts or other cysts. Only very few expectant mothers will find out that their cysts are malignant tumors during pregnancy. In the early, late or early second trimester of pregnancy, the uterus and its attached organs move into the abdomen, making it easy for the cyst to become swollen and twisted. When distortion occurs, arteries and veins can still enter the cyst, but venous blood cannot leave the cyst, causing the cyst to swell and even necrotize, resulting in intermittent unilateral lower abdominal pain in expectant mothers, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and a feeling of exhaustion.

4. Reason 4: Severe uterine distortion

When a woman is pregnant, if the uterus has uterine fibroids, developmental malformations, or tumors in the uterus and ovaries, causing the uterus to be twisted more than 90 degrees, it may cause acute abdominal pain; in severe cases, it may also cause shock to the expectant mother or fetal confusion. For abdominal pain caused by mild uterine twisting, it can be improved by bed rest, taking painkillers and changing the posture of the expectant mother. If it is severe, it can only be corrected by laparotomy. If the fetus is mature, cesarean section can also be performed at the same time.
