Dark brown discharge from the vagina

Dark brown discharge from the vagina

Vaginal bleeding refers to bleeding from the urinary system other than normal menstruation. It is one of the more common gynecological diseases. The bleeding sites may be inside the vagina, cervix, uterine body and bilateral fallopian tubes, but abnormal uterine bleeding is more common.

The appearance of dark brown secretions in the vagina is a small amount of vaginal bleeding, which is called abnormal vaginal bleeding in clinical medicine.

If abnormal vaginal bleeding is found, the first thing to consider is to eliminate the possibility of pregnancy. You need to go to the hospital for ultrasound and blood HCG tests to confirm whether there is an abnormal pregnancy, such as threatened abortion, ectopic pregnancy, etc.

Secondly, we need to consider possible gynecological inflammation, intrauterine ring sinking, uterine intrauterine polyps, uterine cervical fibroids, cervical cysts, etc., which may cause abnormal vaginal bleeding. These conditions need to be confirmed by ultrasound, cervical screening, gynecological examination, etc., and then symptomatic treatment should be given according to the results of the examination.

If there are no obvious abnormalities in the relevant tests, it is considered to be an endocrine imbalance, and further tests for estrogen, etc. are needed, and menstruation can be regulated as appropriate based on the test results.

Causes

1. An imbalance in the endocrine function of the uterus and ovaries can cause abnormal uterine bleeding. In addition, a temporary decrease in estrogen levels caused by the rupture of follicles during menstruation can also cause abnormal uterine bleeding.

2. Sexual organ tumors, such as uterine fibroids, cervical cancer and endometrial cancer, can cause vaginal bleeding.

3. Abnormal uterine bleeding related to pregnancy, such as ectopic pregnancy, threatened abortion, miscarriage, etc.

4. Genital inflammation and trauma can cause vaginal bleeding;

5. Organic diseases, such as abnormalities in platelet quantity and quality, coagulation disorders including thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, liver damage, etc. can all cause vaginal bleeding.

6. Exogenous growth hormones, such as estrogen and estrogen drugs, can cause "breakthrough bleeding" or "withdrawal bleeding".

Common diseases

1. Vaginal bleeding in childhood

The possibility of precocious puberty or malignant tumors of the reproductive system should be considered.

2. Vaginal bleeding with pain during puberty

Pain in the vagina and vulva, accompanied by varying amounts of blood and fluid discharge, may be caused by trauma.

3. Vaginal bleeding in women during their growing period

It may be vaginal bleeding during ovulation, which is normal.

4. Vaginal bleeding after menopause

Women with ectopic pregnancy also often have vaginal bleeding after menopause, and it is usually accompanied by lower abdominal pain and long bleeding time. Therefore, it is not possible to simply think that it is ovulation bleeding when pregnancy is not confirmed. Miscarriage also causes vaginal bleeding.

5. Emergency contraception causes bleeding

Bleeding after taking emergency contraception is called breakthrough bleeding.

6. Postmenopausal vaginal bleeding

Vaginal bleeding 2 years after menopause. Attention should be paid to eliminating malignant diseases, such as cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, etc., followed by considering inflammation, cysts, endocrine factors, etc.

7. Incomplete uterine repair and puerperal infection

Incomplete restoration of the uterine embryo adhesion surface can cause venous thrombus to fall off and blood sinus to reopen, causing abnormal uterine bleeding. Puerperal infection is mostly endometritis, which can cause poor restoration of the uterine embryo adhesion surface and poor uterine contractions, and incomplete closure of blood sinuses causing abnormal uterine bleeding.

8. Abnormal uterine bleeding caused by endometritis, uterine myocarditis, salpingitis, pelvic cellulitis, etc.

9. Sex organ tumors

Uterine fibroids, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, etc.
