What color is the amniotic fluid on the underwear?

Many pregnant women will suddenly feel fluid discharge from the vagina before they are about to give birth, which may be a rupture of the fetal membrane. Normal amniotic fluid appears as clear liquid on the underwear, like urine, and sometimes there will be white particles in the middle, which are usually vernix caseosa. If there is an abnormality in the amniotic fluid of a pregnant woman, the discharged fluid may appear light yellow or even light green and viscous, which are all different characteristics of the amniotic fluid of a pregnant woman.

The color of amniotic fluid in the belly of pregnant women is generally colorless and transparent, similar to urine. If the color of the amniotic fluid changes, it is necessary to promptly observe various abnormalities of the pregnant woman and the child. For example, if the amniotic fluid of a pregnant woman is hard and bright red, it is necessary to observe dangerous conditions such as placental abruption. If the amniotic fluid of a pregnant woman appears light green like fecal soup, it is necessary to observe whether the fetus is suffering from intrauterine hypoxia.

When the fetus is hypoxic in the uterus, the fetus will defecate, causing the amniotic fluid to be contaminated. Of course, most of the amniotic fluid contamination is normal. It is a sign of fetal maturity or a transient manifestation of hypoxia. Natural delivery can often be chosen. If the amniotic fluid is contaminated and the fetal heart rate monitoring shows obvious abnormalities, it needs to be dealt with immediately and the pregnancy should be terminated immediately.

Therefore, if vaginal discharge occurs, seek medical attention immediately and let the doctor determine whether it is placental abruption. Some pregnant women may suffer from stress urinary incontinence due to compression of the uterus in the late pregnancy. The urine secretion and the amniotic fluid secretion cannot be distinguished by themselves. They should go to the hospital immediately for the doctor to test with pH test paper or microscopic examination to determine whether it is placental abruption or urine secretion.

Rupture of amniotic fluid is an important sign that the baby is about to be born. Because the fetus is very likely to suffer from lack of oxygen after rupture of amniotic fluid, it is necessary to go to the hospital for delivery as soon as possible. If the amniotic fluid is found to be sufficient and clear, the baby can survive until birth; but if the amniotic fluid is insufficient and turbid, it means that the fetus is suffering from intrauterine hypoxia and requires immediate surgery.
