Breast eczema, like eczema occurring in other parts of the body, is a skin allergic disease. Breast eczema mainly occurs on the nipple, nipple and the skin around the nipple, especially under the breast. Eczema often occurs symmetrically on both breasts, but it may also occur on one side. So what are the causes of eczema around the breasts? Let’s learn about it below. Causes of Breast Eczema 1. External causes of breast eczema (1) Postpartum women’s dry skin, sweating, scratching, friction and other dietary combinations can cause breast eczema. (2) Many mothers develop breast eczema due to skin allergies and irritations such as animal fur, topical medicines, some soaps, skin care products, dyes, etc. (3) When mothers are breastfeeding, the babies suckle their breasts frequently, which can cause local irritation to the breasts due to excessive moisture, leading to allergic reactions in the nipples and surrounding skin, and thus breast eczema. (4) During the confinement period, an uncomfortable living environment may also cause breast eczema, such as poor ventilation in the room, sunlight and ultraviolet rays, etc. 2. Internal causes of breast eczema (1) Postpartum women consume a lot of energy and are generally in poor physical condition. When taking some medicines orally, it is very easy to cause endocrine imbalance and cause eczema bacteria infection. (2) If mothers suffer from chronic gastrointestinal diseases, endocrine and nervous system disorders and other diseases, physical diseases and sparganosis will make the mothers allergic and susceptible to infection with eczema pathogens. (3) Many mothers suffer from breast eczema due to neurological factors such as frequent insomnia, tension, anxiety, and overwork. (4) Foods such as fish and shrimp can cause skin allergies and may also cause breast eczema in mothers. Symptoms of breast eczema 1. Cracked nipples Due to improper breastfeeding methods, the nipples may become dry and cracked in varying sizes, which often cause bleeding and pain. Secondary infection may result in nipple swelling and purulent discharge. 2. Eczema erythema Eczema erythema often appears on the nipples, nipples and surrounding skin, and papule-like granules appear. The surface is covered with a thin layer of scab and desquamation, and is often complicated by erosion, exudate, pain and obvious itching. 3. Breast and body ringworm This is mainly caused by bacterial infection, and the specific manifestation is the appearance of circular erythema on the surface of the breast, with a circle of protrusions around the erythema, forming a clear boundary. If the inflammation in the center of the erythema is relieved and there is white desquamation on the surface, the mother will generally feel obvious itching. 4. Skin abrasion and red spots This condition mainly occurs in hot seasons and is more likely to occur in obese mothers. Because of the accumulation of sweat and coldness and the friction between the skin at the wrinkles where the breasts touch the abdomen, clearly defined red spots appear. When the inflammation is severe, erosion, exudate, scarring, itching, burning and pain may occur. |
