Why is menstrual period dark brown?

For us girls, menstruation is really an inconvenient thing, but we must deal with it, because it has been with us since we were born. Sometimes we also have some troubles about menstruation, such as a small amount of menstrual flow. So what is the reason for dark brown and light menstrual flow? Let’s take a look together.

What is the reason for dark brown menstruation and small amount?

Chinese medicine believes that scanty and dark menstruation is caused by qi stagnation and blood stasis, which obstructs the uterine vessels and causes poor blood circulation. Therefore, the color of blood on the first day of menstruation and the last few days when the amount of blood is small is dark brown. It is believed that this may be caused by menstruation staying in the uterine cavity for too long, and is usually accompanied by menstrual pain. If the menstrual period is light and dark once or twice, it can be restored by adjusting the work and rest schedule. If the menstrual period is light and dark for a long time, you need to go to the hospital for examination and medication.

If you catch a cold during menstruation, blood clots will appear. If blood clots appear for a long time, there is a possibility of uterine fibroids. Menstrual blood clots rarely occur in young people. If there are blood clots during menstruation, you can go to the hospital for a physical examination to see what the cause is. Under normal circumstances, menstrual blood is white, without purple or light purple blood clots. Once menstrual blood clots occur, it is often accompanied by menstrual pain. Menstrual pain usually causes patients to be nervous, anxious and mentally unstable.

What are the reasons for unclean periods?

1. Impact of drugs

If you take emergency contraceptives, it will cause irregular menstruation, menstrual disorders, continuous spotting, etc. In addition, taking some psychotropic drugs will also cause prolonged menstruation. For this situation, if we stop taking the medicine, we will recover after one or two months, so there is no need to worry too much.

2. Endocrine imbalance

Endocrine imbalance is also one of the reasons, such as luteal insufficiency, which means that the progesterone value of progesterone metabolism after ovulation is insufficient or the progesterone shrinks too early, resulting in delayed growth and development of the uterine wall. This situation will also result in prolonged menstruation and continuous spotting.

3. Women’s menopause

Some women will enter menopause when they are around 50 years old. During this stage, they may experience menstruation that does not stop for more than ten days. This is mainly because the estrogen level of menopausal women decreases, causing endometrial hyperplasia and shedding, resulting in non-menstrual bleeding.
