1. Indications

Hypertrophy of the labia minora with clinical manifestations.

2. Contraindications

1. Vaginitis and vulvitis should be treated surgically after the inflammation is healed.

2. If the labia minora is inflamed, eroded or ulcerated, surgical treatment should be performed after recovery.

3. Opportunities for surgical treatment

It is best to perform surgery 3 to 14 days after the menstrual period ends.

4. Preparation before surgery

Same as general preoperative preparation for vulva surgery.

5. Anesthesia and Position

Partial infiltration anesthesia was used and the lithotomy position was selected.

6. Surgical treatment process

1. Basic disinfection and sterilization of private parts and vagina, lay out disinfected towels.

2. Wound marking: Use a wooden stick dipped in gentian violet to draw the surgical design line on the labia minora on both sides. The midpoint of the longitudinal axis of the labia minora, 2 to 2.5 cm away from the roots of both sides of the labia minora, is used as the positioning point. Move downward in an arc shape and stop at the upper and lower sides of the labia minora. Make sure the lines on the labia minora on both sides are drawn consistently, and use ichthyol to fix the lines.

3. Suture hemostatic needle: Use No. 4 silk to make three sutures along the parallel surface of the longitudinal axis of the labia minora, 1 to 1.5 cm away from the root of the labia minora, with the needle position of 1 cm and the interval of 1 cm, to reduce intraoperative bleeding and postoperative abscess formation.

4. Trim the thickened labia minora: Use two tissue forceps to clamp the left and right sides of the labia minora and spread them out without support. Use minimally invasive surgical scissors to cut away the thickened labia minora along the marked line, trim the wound edge into a slope inward, and cut away part of the muscle and connective tissue inside the labia minora, so that the edge of the newly formed labia minora is natural, uneven and blunt.

5. Suture wound: After complete blood circulation, use 3-0 thread to cut the suture edges from top to bottom.

6. Insert a urinary catheter, cover the wound with a piece of Sanisol gauze, and apply sterile gauze externally.

7. Post-operative solution

1. Apply medical ice packs to the affected area for 2 to 4 hours after surgery to reduce bleeding and abscess formation. Be careful not to allow medical ice packs to come into direct contact with wounds.

2. Remove the blood-activating sutures 24 hours after surgery.

3. Remove the urinary catheter 24 to 48 hours after surgery.

4. Keep the vulva clean and clean the wound with Sanisol cotton once a day. Wash your vulva immediately after going to the toilet.

5. Remove the sutures on the 4th day after surgery.

6. Use antibiotics after surgery to prevent infection.
