How to calculate ovulation period in a 23-day menstrual cycle

Women with regular menstruation can infer the days of ovulation based on their own menstrual cycle. The menstrual cycle of most women is 28 days, but how do we calculate the ovulation period when the menstrual cycle is 23 days? Experts say that no matter how long your regular menstrual cycle is, ovulation occurs around the 14th day before the next menstruation.

How to calculate the ovulation period in a 23-day menstrual cycle

If the woman has regular menstruation, the ovulation period is usually about 14 days after the next menstrual period. The 5 days before and 4 days after the ovulation period are counted as the ovulation period. You can also use the ovulation temperature measurement method to detect your own ovulation period.

1. Method of measuring body temperature during ovulation

The ovulation temperature method is a relatively accurate way to measure the ovulation period, because generally speaking, a woman's body temperature will suddenly drop on the day of ovulation, and then the body temperature will rise by 0.3-0.5 degrees compared to the basic body temperature for a few days.

Women who are preparing for pregnancy can buy a thermometer, set it below 35 degrees Celsius before going to bed every day, and measure their temperature immediately after waking up every day (after 8 hours of sleep) without doing any exercise. This should be continued for at least 14 days. It is best to keep measuring it accurately, record it, and draw a trend chart to grasp the regularity of temperature rise and fall to determine your ovulation period.

2. Observation of secretions

During the ovulation period, women have a lot of vaginal secretions. The typical characteristics of the secretions at this stage are egg white-like, with longer wires, thinner color and more quantity. This kind of excessive secretion needs to be distinguished from vaginitis. Because secretions will increase when there is inflammation, but it is generally not difficult to distinguish. The secretions caused by inflammation may appear thick, yellow in color, or accompanied by a foul odor. In addition, they may be accompanied by vulvar itching. The mucus that increases during ovulation is egg white-like, colorless, and odorless, and this phenomenon is only obvious a few days before ovulation and disappears after ovulation. For women with normal ovulation cycles, these symptoms also occur regularly.

The right way to accurately measure body temperature during ovulation

1. Buy a basic thermometer. Basic thermometers are different from ordinary thermometers. Their accuracy is high, and 36.7 degrees Celsius (accuracy 24) is generally used as the boundary between high and low temperature tests. (36 degrees – accuracy 10; 38 degrees – accuracy 50).

2. Before going to bed every night, swing the mercury column on the thermometer to below 35 degrees. If it is an electronic thermometer, return it to the initial value and put it where you can reach it when you wake up.

3. After 8 hours of sleep, do not do any exercise. Immediately put the thermometer under the tongue for 5 minutes, take it out and read the value, and record it on a specially prepared report. It can also be accurately measured under the armpit, but the armpit temperature is generally not as stable as the oral temperature. Minimum duration: 14 days.

4. You are not allowed to wake up, go to the toilet, eat, talk, etc. before taking your temperature.

5. You should record the factors that may affect the body temperature during ovulation, such as fever, cold, insomnia, drinking, taking medicine, and mental state. In case of fever, cold, fever, diarrhea, insomnia, drinking, using electric blankets, going to bed late and getting up late, it is easy to affect the ovulation temperature. Pay attention when measuring it, and pay attention to special marking.

6. The menarche and sexual intercourse days must be marked separately. In case of fever, excessive drinking, late sleep and late rise, etc., which may affect the body temperature, special notes should also be made.

7. Record the measurement results on the basal body temperature chart. In addition to recording them on paper, it is better to record them on a professional ovulation temperature visualization tool, which can more conveniently and intuitively query the basal body temperature curve and clearly see the ultra-low temperature period and high temperature period.
