Adjust the correct fetal position

Fetal position refers to the location of the fetus in the uterus. It is very important to determine the posture of the fetus in the womb before it is born, as it affects whether the pregnant mother can choose a normal birth. So how to adjust the transverse position of the fetus?

What conditions are classified as transverse fetal position?

Head position: If the baby's head is at the bottom and the buttocks are at the top, the head is exposed first. This fetal position is called head position. The head position is divided into: anterior occipital position, posterior occipital position, facial position, and frontal position.

If the baby's head is at the bottom and the buttocks are at the top, it is head first. This fetal position is called cephalic presentation.

Breech presentation: If the baby's head and buttocks are reversed, with the buttocks below and the head above, the buttocks are exposed first. This fetal position is called breech presentation. Breech presentation can be divided into: single breech presentation, mixed breech presentation, full knee presentation, incomplete knee presentation, full foot presentation, and incomplete foot presentation.

If the baby's head and buttocks are reversed, with the buttocks at the bottom and the head at the top, the buttocks are presented first. This fetal position is called breech presentation.

1. Extended-leg breech position: When a pregnant woman gives birth, her buttocks come out first, and her legs are flexed and extended upward to her face. This is the most common type of breech position.

2. Complete breech position, with the buttocks coming out first, the legs are folded at the knees and crossed over to the abdomen.

3. Feet first, buttocks second. One or both feet should bend and stretch downward, coming out before the buttocks.

Transverse position: When the short axis of the fetus and the short axis of the mother are perpendicular to each other, and the fetus's shoulder or hand is the first presenting position, it is called transverse position. The probability of transverse position is about 1 in 322 to 1200 births. It is very easy to occur when the fetus is less than 1500 grams or there are multiple births. Generally, there are:

(1) The fetus is in breech position, close to the mother’s pelvis.

(2) The baby’s head is close to the mother’s pelvis.

Reasonable way to adjust the fetal position

Knee-chest position:

Around and during the 28th to 32nd week of pregnancy, you can do knee-chest lying exercises to correct the fetal position, once in the morning, noon and evening, each time for 10 minutes, for 1 week, and the fetal position can be corrected.

Method: The expectant mother kneels on the bed, in a kneeling position, with her hands on the bed and her legs shoulder-width apart. Keep your chest and shoulders as close to the bed as possible, with your face tilted to one side. Bend your knees and keep your thighs perpendicular to the ground. Maintain this posture for about three minutes. After you get used to it, you can slowly increase it to 5-10 minutes. Do it two to three times a day.

Tip: This position is only suitable for pregnant women who are 30-34 weeks pregnant to adjust the fetal position.

If the fetus is in a transverse position before the seventh month of pregnancy, it can be cured by simply increasing observation. Because the fetus is still small compared to the uterus and there is more amniotic fluid in the mother's uterine cavity, the fetus has room to move and will automatically correct the fetal position. It is best to consult a doctor before doing this posture, and urinate and loosen your belt each time.
