Is it normal to have two periods in one month?

Menstruation refers to the regular vaginal discharge or abnormal uterine bleeding in women. Every month or so, the uterine wall undergoes a regular change of blood vessel proliferation, glandular duct metabolism, and uterine wall collapse and fall off with bleeding. This physiological circulatory cycle is called the menstrual cycle.

If there is sudden bleeding about 10 days after the end of the cycle, this is the late menstrual period, and the bleeding at this time is generally ovulation bleeding. Ovulation bleeding is a normal phenomenon. It is caused by the rupture of the follicle and a sudden decrease in estrogen, which causes breakthrough bleeding of the uterine wall. Generally, the bleeding will stop on its own within 3-5 days. If it happens once in a while, you don't need to do anything, but if you habitually have two periods in a month, you need to go to the hospital for diagnosis in time.

If a woman has two menstrual periods a month, she may think that her menstrual period is abnormal, which may be caused by multifunctional uterine bleeding or contact bleeding.

Multifunctional abnormal uterine bleeding can often manifest as irregular menstrual cycles, excessive menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual periods or non-menstrual bleeding, which may cause women to have two periods in a month. It is mainly caused by endocrine imbalance.

Female contact bleeding is mostly related to organic diseases of the reproductive organs such as vaginitis, cervical erosion, cervical polyps, early cervical cancer, cervical fibroids, etc. It mostly occurs after female sexual intercourse or straining to defecate, and may therefore be regarded as menstruation twice a month by women.

In these two cases, it is abnormal for women to have two periods in a month and they should seek medical treatment as soon as possible.
