Why do I gain weight during my period?

During women's menstrual period, the body's resistance, endocrine system, and female hormones all undergo certain changes, so the health status also undergoes corresponding changes. Some women's appetite will suddenly improve just after their menstrual period. Therefore, many people find that their weight also increases relatively during their menstrual period. What is the reason for this? How does a woman's weight change during the physiological period?

Everyone's physical fitness is different, but because the basal metabolism of women before menstruation is relatively slow, there will be an increase in appetite. Some women also experience edema during menstruation, which will lead to weight gain during menstruation. The increased weight is about 1-2KG, which is within the normal range of daily weight adjustment, so female friends don’t need to worry too much. This is related to the endocrine changes in women's bodies during the menstrual period and is physiological.

Before menstruation, the body's fat accumulates and the body's luteinizing hormone begins to secrete a lot. Therefore, about 1-7 days before the menstrual period, the body also feels swollen, and you can feel weight gain during this period.

During menstruation, there is also a feeling of weight loss because the uterine wall bleeds for several days. Some people say that if you eat whatever you want during this period, you won’t gain weight. In fact, this is unreasonable. If you eat whatever you want during menstruation, you will still gain weight.

After menstruation, about a week or so is the golden period for weight loss. During this period, the luteinizing hormone concentration in the body is relatively low, and the body's basal metabolism is also rapid. If the daily diet is controlled at about 600 calories during this period, there will be a more significant weight loss effect.

In fact, it is normal to gain 1-2KG of weight during menstruation. During this period, as long as you maintain a normal diet, moderate exercise, and a positive and healthy mentality, it will be beneficial to the body. Before the menstrual period comes, women do not need to worry too much about the increase in appetite due to the effect of male hormones. As long as they pay attention to overeating and drinking during the menstrual period and eat a light diet, they can improve the condition of menstrual edema.
