What does it mean when a pregnancy test shows negative

The use of pregnancy test sticks can detect whether a woman is pregnant, but for some female friends who have no pregnancy experience or have never used pregnancy test sticks, they may have only heard of pregnancy test sticks, which sometimes show a negative reaction, but they don’t know what it means. So, what does a negative pregnancy test mean?

Pregnancy test sticks are mainly used to test whether a woman is pregnant, and their use is relatively simple, so they are loved by many women who need to test whether they are pregnant. However, some women have never experienced pregnancy and thus know very little about it. Although they have heard of positive or negative reactions, they do not understand their actual specific meaning.

To use a pregnancy test stick, you need to collect urine and then insert it into the test stick. If a bar appears, it is a negative reaction, indicating that there is no hormone secreted during pregnancy in the urine, which is why it is judged that you are not pregnant.

If the pregnancy test result shows two bars, it is called a positive reaction, or if one bar is darker and the other is lighter, it is a weak positive reaction. However, when these two reactions occur, it indicates that there is a high possibility that the woman is already pregnant.

Of course, this type of test method may also have false positives, so for further diagnosis, it is best to conduct multiple tests or go to the hospital for further testing to verify the test results, so that you can know more accurately whether you are pregnant.

The data from the pregnancy test stick shows that there are three types:

1. Negative: A dark purple line (comparison line C) appears in the test area, indicating that you are not pregnant.

2. Positive type: Two dark purple lines (comparison line C and detection line T) appear in the detection area, indicating pregnancy. The color intensity of the test line at different stages of pregnancy changes with the change of HCG concentration.

3. Invalidation: If no dark purple line appears in the test area or only one dark purple line (test line T) appears in the test area, it means that the test is unsuccessful or the pregnancy test paper is invalid and should be tested again.

When buying a pregnancy test stick, be sure to go to a reliable pharmacy, be sure to follow the instructions on the small box, and make sure that the treatment medication has not expired. After detecting pregnancy with a pregnancy test stick, it is still necessary to go to the hospital for further diagnosis. A positive reaction on the pregnancy test stick does not necessarily mean a normal pregnancy, it may also be an ectopic pregnancy or hydatidiform mole.
