What to do if you have abdominal pain during your first menstrual period

Many women worry about the onset of their menstrual period, as menstrual cramps often occur when their period comes. Common symptoms of dysmenorrhea include lower back pain, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. So what are the causes of menstrual pain? How to relieve dysmenorrhea? Can menstrual pain cause infertility?

What is dysmenorrhea

Menstrual pain refers to constant abdominal pain that women experience during their menstrual period. This condition occurs quite frequently among women and is relatively common. The most serious symptom is unbearable abdominal pain, as well as uneasiness, pale complexion, cold limbs and other symptoms. There is a chill in the abdomen. In severe cases, normal work and study cannot be carried out and bed rest is required.

Menstrual cramps are generally divided into two categories: primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea refers to dysmenorrhea caused by a woman's reproductive organs without any disease, mostly due to poor diet, lifestyle, and some natural conditions of the human body. This condition will be relieved to a certain extent after marriage or childbirth.

Secondary dysmenorrhea is caused by gynecological diseases such as pelvic inflammation. This kind of dysmenorrhea needs to be checked in the hospital and treated actively. Otherwise, the longer you delay, the more severe the pain will be. In more serious cases, infertility or cancer may occur.

Causes of menstrual cramps

The causes of menstrual pain for everyone are different, and they may not be able to be identified. Moreover, there may be more than one cause for menstrual pain for everyone, and it may be the result of the interaction of several causes. Generally speaking, menstrual pain may be caused by the following reasons.

1. Some women are born with a narrow cervix. During menstruation, the menstrual flow will be blocked and stagnant due to the narrow cervix, which will cause discomfort and menstrual pain.

2. Some women are born with incomplete uterine development. Lack of uterine function will cause the uterus to lack oxygen during menstruation, and insufficient blood supply will also cause menstrual pain.

3. Abnormal position of the uterus can also hinder menstrual discharge, which is also one of the causes of menstrual pain.

4. During menstruation, some people are too nervous and will react strongly to pain.

5. There is no scientific research to prove that menstrual pain can be inherited by genes, but there is a certain correlation between menstrual pain in girls and genetic inheritance.

6. When women's endocrine system is out of balance, they will experience menstrual pain. This is mainly because the progesterone level in the body will increase to a certain extent during the menstrual period.
