Can color Doppler ultrasound detect early breast cancer?

Can color Doppler ultrasound detect early breast cancer?

B-ultrasound is something we are all familiar with. Since B-ultrasound examination is painless and has no radiation, it does basically no harm to the body and is widely used in the medical industry. It is also well known in the field of breast cancer detection, so can B-ultrasound detect early breast cancer?

As for whether B-ultrasound can detect early breast cancer, we must first look at the shortcomings of B-ultrasound in breast cancer examination.

1. As an imaging diagnostic test, B-ultrasound can detect thickening diseases in low-echo masses, but it cannot be used to diagnose when no lumps are present or the lumps are small and the images they produce are very unclear.

2. Because the image difference of breast lumps, whether they are benign or malignant, is not much in color ultrasound examination, and low echoes are more common. Moreover, for lumps smaller than 1b250μm, ultrasound images cannot distinguish their blood signals, so when ultrasound is used to examine breast cancer, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish small glandular masses from malignant lesions.

3. Regarding the lymph nodes beside the shoulder blade, the shoulder blade and ribs may block them, which brings a certain degree of difficulty to the inspection. It is difficult to detect mutations and migration.

4. Due to the uneven structure of the breast, if the breast area is large, it is easy to misdiagnose small changes, and the results of B-ultrasound examination are easily affected by the ultrasound equipment, camera frequency and the technical ability of the examiner.

From the shortcomings of B-ultrasound examination of breast cancer, we can see that B-ultrasound can detect early breast cancer, but the prerequisite is that there must be lumps in the breast. If the breast lump is not large or there is no lump, B-ultrasound is helpless. Therefore, mammography is the best method for diagnosing early breast cancer when symptoms are not very obvious.

In short, because B-ultrasound examination has certain shortcomings. The probability of detecting breast cancer when there is no lump or the lump is not large is low. Even if the lump smaller than 1b250m can be detected, it is impossible to make a diagnosis. And it is very easy to misdiagnose due to the total breast area. Therefore, the diagnosis rate of B-ultrasound in detecting early breast cancer is not as high as that of breast mammography. Therefore, patients are advised to do color Doppler ultrasound for early detection of breast cancer. If no problems are found, a mammogram can be performed to confirm the diagnosis.
