When patients start breastfeeding, they are very likely to experience breast pain. In order to avoid breast abnormalities, patients are advised to find out the cause immediately. So what causes breast pain during lactation? 1. Breast pain after childbirth is a very common condition among patients. It often occurs on the first day after childbirth. It is a normal reaction caused by swelling of the breast veins and lymphatic system after childbirth. The patient should ensure early contact, early sucking, and early milking. Regular and effective sucking by the baby is an important measure to promote the smoothness of the mammary ducts. The faster the baby is fed with breast milk, the faster the mammary ducts will be unblocked, so that the milk secretion will be smooth and the appearance of breast pain will be alleviated. 2. When the mammary ducts are not completely drained, the milk secretion reflex is unbalanced, the breast system is affected, and the patient suffers from swelling and pain due to long-term milk accumulation. The main symptoms are breast swelling, lumps and skin erythema. You can apply a warm cotton towel to your breasts, squeeze out the milk appropriately, or use a manual breast pump to draw it out. 3. When the milk tube is blocked, it may cause lumps and pain in the breast and red spots on the skin. To keep the milk tubes unobstructed, the patient should breastfeed frequently and continuously after giving birth, gently tap the breasts before and during breastfeeding, massage the breasts, or use an electric breast pump to express milk. If the milk tube blockage cannot be resolved, some anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs can be used under the guidance of a doctor. 4. Cracked nipples. Because the patient is not proficient in breastfeeding techniques and the breastfeeding posture is incorrect, the baby cannot properly suck the nipple and only bites the nipple without holding most of the nipple in the mouth. Under this kind of frequent stretching and stimulation, it is easy to tear the patient's tender nipples, causing nipple cracks and severe pain during the next breastfeeding. |
