How long does it take for women to have symptoms of AIDS?

AIDS is an infectious disease with huge adverse effects, caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV is a viral infection that attacks the human immune system. It takes the most important T lymphocytes in the human immune system as the main target of attack, destroying a large number of these cells and making the body lack immune function. As a result, the body is prone to infection with various diseases and may develop malignant tumors with a high mortality rate. The average dangerous period of HIV in the human body is 8 to 9 years. Before contracting AIDS, people can live and work without any symptoms for many years.

How long does it take for women to have symptoms of AIDS?

1. Generally, women in the early stages of AIDS will have widespread lymph node enlargement, especially the cervical, axillary and groin lymph nodes. The lymph node enlargement is about 1 cm in diameter, hard, painless, and movable, and lasts for more than three months. A large number of people can remain free of any obvious symptoms for nearly ten years after being infected with HIV. But the virus is still present in their blood. If risky activities occur during this period, the virus may be transmitted to sexual partners. Therefore, the absence of symptoms does not necessarily mean that you are not infected. Especially for women, the early symptoms of AIDS are very easy to ignore.

2. Women may experience some subacute early-stage AIDS symptoms within a few weeks (4 to 8 weeks) of being infected with HIV, such as swollen lymph nodes, rash, night sweats, headache, cough, etc. Some of these are similar to common fever and colds. People who engage in high-risk sexual behavior may be highly suspected of being infected with AIDS if they develop the following early symptoms of AIDS in women, such as long-term low-grade fever, intestinal dysfunction, weight loss, cough, night sweats, etc.

If you suspect you have early symptoms of AIDS or may be infected with HIV. You should go to a standardized health supervision institute or other specific health administrative department as soon as possible to get an HIV antibody test to determine whether you are infected with HIV.
