Causes of gum recession in women

Gum recession refers to the shrinkage of the gums at the gum line, exposing the gums so that your front teeth appear longer and longer. Many people feel that gum recession is a type of dental disease. In fact, it is not. Gum recession is a common symptom of periodontal disease and cannot be regarded as the name of a disease in a strict sense.

Why do gums shrink?

There are many factors that can cause gum timidity:

1. Periodontal disease. These are bacterial gum infections that can damage gum tissue and supporting bone, keeping the front teeth immobile and indented. Gum disease is the main cause of gum recession. Even if your gums are not infected, edema (infected swollen areas) behind the gums can cause them to swell. This condition occurs due to infection or changes in the microbial flora. Gum disease causes gum death. As the gum tissue dies, it shrinks.

2. Incorrect awareness of brushing teeth. When you brush your teeth too much or use the incorrect method, it may cause tooth damage on the front teeth and the gums will become timid.

3. Insufficient dental care. Inadequate brushing, flossing, and antibacterial mouthwash can easily turn dental plaque into dental calculus, also known as dental tartar, which can cause gum decay.

4. Changes in male hormones. Fluctuations in hormone levels throughout a woman's life, such as during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, can make the gums more sensitive and more susceptible to gum recession.

5. Cigarette crafts. Cigarette users are more likely to develop sticky plaque on their front teeth, which is difficult to remove and can cause gum recession.

6. Grinding and clenching teeth. Clenching or grinding your teeth can put too much force on your front teeth, causing your gums to shrink.

7. Crooked teeth or improper bite. When the front teeth do not come together evenly, it can exert excessive force on the gums and bone, causing the gums to weaken.
