How to quickly stop coughing during breastfeeding

We all know that cough is a common respiratory disease that is generally transmitted through droplets. Therefore, breastfeeding mothers do not have to worry about infecting their babies with coughs while feeding and be afraid to breastfeed. However, for the health of herself and her baby, the mother should still treat the cough in time. So, what food can cure cough during breastfeeding?

What foods can cure cough during breastfeeding?

Coughing with phlegm is an infectious disease of the respiratory system, which is transmitted through droplets sprayed from the respiratory system. Therefore, it is not easy for a breastfeeding mother who has a cold to transmit the influenza virus to her baby through breast milk. In addition, after a breastfeeding mother is infected with the flu virus, her body will immediately produce flu virus antibodies before any symptoms appear. After the body has this antigen, breastfeeding the baby can allow the cold virus antibodies to enter the baby's body through breast milk, thereby enhancing its ability to resist colds.

If a cold is accompanied by fever or severe cough, you should see a doctor. The doctor will give you medicine that has little effect on breast milk according to your condition. For example, cephalosporin is a very safe medicine. Drink plenty of water, eat a light, easily digestible diet, and get enough rest, and you will usually get better quickly. During the high fever period, exclusive breastfeeding can be stopped for 1 to 2 days. During the termination period, the milk should be expressed to prevent the decrease of milk supply due to weaning.

If taking medicine, the mother is best to take it immediately after weaning, and appropriately extend the next breastfeeding time. During this period of time, most of the medicine can be eliminated in the pregnant mother, and the concentration of the medicine in the breast milk is relatively low, which has the least impact on the baby.

In addition, although breast milk is not easily infected with influenza viruses, breastfeeding mothers with influenza can easily transmit influenza to their babies through breathing because they have to make close contact with their babies when feeding or changing diapers. Therefore, breastfeeding mothers who have a cold or fever need to wear masks and pay attention to hygiene when performing activities that require close contact with the baby, such as breastfeeding.
