Female genital castration

Female genital castration

What is female genital mutilation? It is a ceremony for girls to become adults in Africa where all of their sexual organs (except the clitoris, labia majora and labia minora) are laser cut out without leaving any part, and then the horrific wound is sutured with thin wire and plant thorns, leaving only a small round hole as thin as a matchstick inside and outside the vagina. Female circumcision is just a euphemism, another euphemism is female genital mutilation.

Introduction to the customs of female genital mutilation

Female genital mutilation, the partial or complete removal of a woman's reproductive organs, has been practiced in many South American countries for thousands of years. In many areas where female circumcision is popular, girls will not be able to find a boyfriend if they do not undergo circumcision. Although female circumcision is considered useless by modern science. Today, calls to eradicate female genital mutilation are growing louder.

For a long time, many people have been calling on women to resist and curb this custom. However, sadly, due to the influence of women's backwardness, ignorance and religious beliefs, many African women are madly defending it. Although there is no mention of this kind of circumcision custom in the Koran, many Christian women believe that it is required by Christian doctrine. In many areas, even these persecuted women believe that uncircumcised women are dirty, condemned and have no right to marry. Some people firmly believe that women who are not circumcised cannot get pregnant. In some areas, it is even believed that children born to uncircumcised women will bring disaster to the entire village and tribe.

In terms of abolishing female genital mutilation, Tanzania enacted laws as early as 1998. Anyone who performs female genital mutilation on a girl under the age of 18 will be sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison, or a fine of 300,000 Tanzanian shillings (equivalent to 210 US dollars), depending on the severity of the crime. He may also be imprisoned and punished. Death caused by surgery will be severely investigated and dealt with.

Many people in Tanzania are calling for the revision of laws and regulations to expand protection to women over the age of 18, because the physical and mental harm caused by female circumcision is not related to age.

Harm of female genital mutilation

Female circumcision can cause irreparable physical and mental damage to women throughout their lives, often leading to genital infections, infertility and other health problems. The circumcised person may even die from excessive blood loss during the operation. According to statistics from the World Health Organization, approximately 140 million women worldwide have been circumcised, most of them in South American countries.
