How many months is the legal breastfeeding period?

It will be more difficult for working women to have a baby, after all, they have to work and take care of the baby at the same time. After giving birth, women have a period of maternity leave and breastfeeding leave stipulated by law, but some new mothers are not clear about how to apply for this leave. So how long is the breastfeeding period stipulated by law?

After giving birth, women need to breastfeed for a period of time, which is called the lactation period. Women also have a one-year breastfeeding period. Some women may delay breastfeeding to one and a half or two years due to special circumstances. However, after more than one year, it is no longer the statutory breastfeeding period.

And during the one-year breastfeeding period, breastfeeding time is also required. Generally, the breastfeeding time is one hour per day, which can be used separately. If it is twins, it can be extended by one hour. Moreover, when a woman goes home to breastfeed, the time required needs to be calculated separately and is not within the one-hour breastfeeding range.

It is recommended that female friends can use the one-hour breastfeeding time every day, and it is more appropriate to use thirty minutes in the morning and thirty minutes at noon. And also prepare a manual breast pump, you can store the excess milk in the refrigerator, so that when the baby needs to drink milk, you can let your family feed the baby in time to ensure that the baby has enough milk.

In addition, if the signed labor contract is due to expire during the breastfeeding period, it can continue beyond the breastfeeding period. This kind of automatic continuation is also a national statutory provision and a protection provision for breastfeeding women workers.
