The main causes of postpartum hemorrhage

The main causes of postpartum hemorrhage

Having a baby is a very risky thing. It does not mean that the risk can be overcome after delivery. If the pregnant woman does not get enough rest or does not have enough nutrition after delivery, or if she is nervous, anxious, overthinking and suspicious, it may cause new risks for the pregnant woman, seriously endangering her personal safety. For example, some pregnant women may experience internal bleeding after giving birth. What causes postpartum hemorrhage in pregnant women?

(1) Excessive mental anxiety: Some pregnant women are overly anxious during childbirth, which causes poor uterine contractions and is a key cause of postpartum hemorrhage. Under normal circumstances, when the embryo detaches from the decidua layer of the uterus, the blood sinuses on the detachment surface open and some bleeding is common, but when the embryo is completely detached and expelled from the uterus, the bleeding decreases rapidly. However, if the pregnant woman is nervous, anxious or for other reasons, which leads to poor uterine contractions and blood vessels cannot close, internal bleeding may occur. If the pregnant woman is nervous and anxious, the delivery process is too long, the application is too long, too many sedatives are used, and the anesthesia is too deep, it can also lead to the embryo's weakness in contraction and internal bleeding. For example, in cases of polyhydramnios, macrosomia, and multiple pregnancy. Because the uterus is too dilated, the uterine fibers are stretched too much, and they cannot be well occupied after giving birth; too frequent pregnancies cause degeneration of uterine muscle fibers, increase in connective tissue, decrease in muscle fibers and weakness in contraction, etc., which are one of the causes of postpartum hemorrhage.

(2) Retained placenta: Retained placenta is one of the causes of internal bleeding, including incomplete embryo detachment, placental adhesion, etc., which can also lead to internal bleeding.

(3) Coagulation dysfunction: Pregnant women suffering from blood diseases and severe hepatitis may suffer from serious adverse effects and must be paid close attention. Pregnant women need to go to a standard hospital outpatient clinic when giving birth to prevent accidents. Therefore, pregnant women must do a good job of prenatal checkups. Pregnant women with a history of postpartum hemorrhage, bleeding tendency diseases such as blood diseases, hepatitis, and a history of multiple curettages should be hospitalized for delivery in advance, have their blood type checked, and have blood prepared to avoid accidents during delivery. Postpartum hemorrhage is sometimes impossible to predict in advance and usually occurs suddenly, so good health care is very important: if uterine contractions cause bleeding, the uterus should be massaged first to promote rapid contraction of the uterus, or the abdominal aorta should be compressed to relieve bleeding.

How to prevent postpartum hemorrhage

Regular pregnancy check-ups, timely referral certification, and increasing the rate of hospitalized deliveries are important in reducing postpartum hemorrhage. The prevention of postpartum hemorrhage must start from the beginning of pregnancy.

Therefore, pregnant women must do a good job of prenatal checkups. Pregnant women who are likely to experience postpartum bleeding, high-risk pregnant women with bleeding tendency diseases such as blood diseases, hepatitis, and pregnant women with a history of multiple curettages should be hospitalized for delivery in advance, have their blood type checked, and have blood prepared to avoid accidents during delivery.
