Why does my head hurt during my period?

After entering puberty, women will have normal menstruation. Menstruation is regular. The normal menstrual cycle of women is 28 days. During the menstrual period, many women will experience symptoms such as dizziness, decreased resistance and abdominal pain. These symptoms are very normal physiological phenomena. Women only need to pay more attention to rest. Generally, they can recover in about 7 days. Therefore, women can choose to massage their head to relieve menstrual symptoms.

In fact, the proportion of headaches in women is much higher than that in men. More than 70% of headaches occur in women. Headaches in women may be caused by physiological factors, and menstrual headaches are one of them.

Why do you have headaches during menstruation?

1. "Mild" headaches during menstruation are a normal physiological phenomenon. However, if you do not use hot air to dry your hair in time after washing it during menstruation, your head will get cold, blood vessels will constrict and cause headaches. Avoid washing your hair on days with heavy menstruation. Wash your hair quickly and dry it thoroughly with hot air after washing to prevent your head from getting cold.

2. During menstruation, if the head is exposed to wind or enters a low-temperature environment, it will cause blood vessels to constrict and cause headaches. You can eat some onions, ginger, fermented black beans, celery and other foods, drink more warm water, and eat a light diet to reduce the severity of headaches.

3. Eating foods high in oil and salt, drinking caffeine-rich beverages (coffee, strong tea, cola), and drinking carbonated drinks and alcoholic beverages can cause menstrual headaches. These inappropriate diets need to be avoided during menstruation.

How to relieve menstrual headaches

1. Exercise moderately

Exercise can help people relieve tension and stress and is one of the effective ways to prevent mild menstrual migraines. If you have severe migraines during your menstrual period, you should avoid exercising as this will aggravate the pain.

2. Massage

Curl your index finger and stroke your forehead with the inner side 30 times, from the middle of the forehead to the temple; rub your temple 30 times with your middle finger; use your palm to do dry face washing movements 10 times.

3. Control your diet

Before and after menstruation, you should eat more foods that help relieve hormonal effects, such as milk, fruits, vegetables, oats, oysters, etc.

4. Eat sweet food appropriately

Sugar can effectively expand the blood sugar capacity in the human body, which helps to relieve symptoms such as high tension in the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular systems and nerve compression. Therefore, eating some sugary foods during menstruation can effectively relieve migraines.

5. Take a slow walk

Appropriate exercise can effectively relieve menstrual headaches, but since strenuous exercise is not suitable during menstruation, appropriate slow walking and strolling are recommended, which can improve menstrual syndrome to a certain extent and relieve the bad mood of tension and depression.

During the menstrual period, women may experience symptoms of discomfort, such as irritability, loss of appetite, and of course headaches. When women encounter this problem, they might as well try to relax, divert their attention, etc., which will relieve the headache to a certain extent.
