37 weeks of pregnancy, the fetus is basically motionless

In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, fetal movements begin to become frequent and show a certain pattern. In order to detect the condition of the fetus during this period, it is necessary to record the fetal movements. Some pregnant women find that fetal movements are normal, but sometimes the number of fetal movements suddenly decreases. So, why is the fetus basically motionless at 37 weeks of pregnancy? Let’s take a look below.

In the late pregnancy, closer to delivery, fetal movement will be somewhat reduced compared to the second trimester, but it is still necessary to pay attention if the fetus almost does not move at night. Be alert to dangers such as umbilical cord around the neck or fetal distress. It is best to check the fetal heart rate to see if it is normal. If the fetal heart rate is between 120 and 160 beats per minute, it means that the fetus is safe.

In fact, fetal movements will decrease after the fetus enters the pelvis in the late pregnancy, which is normal. At 32 weeks of pregnancy, fetal movements are most frequent, and the number of fetal movements per day can reach thousands of times at most. As the pregnancy progresses, as the fetus grows larger, there is less and less space for him to move around in the uterus, so his fetal movements will decrease and not be as frequent as before.

Generally speaking, if the fetal movement is less than 20 times within 12 hours, or less than 3 times within 1 hour, it is often because the fetus is suffering from hypoxia and its life may be seriously threatened. Some people call this phenomenon a harbinger of fetal danger, and pregnant women must not take it lightly. The process from the disappearance of fetal movement to fetal death usually takes about 12 hours to 2 days, and most of the time it takes about 24 hours.

When a pregnant woman becomes afraid of cold, has bad breath, loss of appetite, fatigue, or has irregular bleeding, it can generally be determined that the fetus has died. Of course, fetal movement is just a subjective feeling, and can also be affected by the pregnant woman's sensitivity to fetal movement, the amount of amniotic fluid, the thickness of the abdominal wall, and the use of sedatives or drugs such as magnesium sulfate. Therefore, these factors should be excluded when judging the accuracy of fetal movement information.

However, if the fetus suffers from intrauterine hypoxia, it will also cause fetal movement to decrease and weaken, so expectant mothers must pay attention to this.

Generally speaking, you will start to feel less fetal movement after 33 weeks of pregnancy, but when you go to the hospital for examination, you must pay attention to the time of fetal movement. It must be fixed at morning, noon and evening. It must be fixed. If the fetal movement is at least three times an hour between 8 and 9 in the morning, 12 to 1 in the afternoon, and 6 to 7 in the afternoon, then it is okay. If it is two or one time, count again for an hour immediately. If it is still not enough, go to the nearest hospital to listen to the fetal heart rate to see if there is any problem.

As a pregnant woman in the late stages of pregnancy, it is best for you to actively refer to the contents of this article and learn how to distinguish whether the decrease in fetal movement is normal.
