Could a weak positive result be an ectopic pregnancy?

Nowadays, if many women suspect that they are pregnant, they will use early pregnancy test strips to test their morning urine. Although they know that early pregnancy test strips can be used to test pregnancy, it is actually not clear whether the results of early pregnancy test strips are accurate and whether they can detect intrauterine or ectopic pregnancy. Some people even ask whether a weak positive result means ectopic pregnancy?

Under normal circumstances, women can use early pregnancy test strips to check the hCG value in morning urine fourteen days after having sex. If the early pregnancy test strips show one dark and one light, that is, the test result is weak positive, it means that the possibility of female pregnancy is very high. In order to confirm whether she is really pregnant, it is recommended to go to the hospital for a blood test to check the hCG component in the blood. If the hCG value increases significantly, it proves that she is really pregnant.

Therefore, we can understand that the early pregnancy test paper can only test whether a woman is pregnant, but cannot distinguish whether it is an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy can only be distinguished when a woman goes to the hospital for an ultrasound examination five weeks after her menstruation to see whether there is a gestational sac in the uterine cavity. If there is no gestational sac in the uterine cavity, it means it is an ectopic pregnancy. Once an ectopic pregnancy is confirmed, it needs to be examined and treated in time to check whether it can be treated conservatively or surgically to minimize the risk.

Common signs of ectopic pregnancy include sudden pain in the lower abdomen and continuous non-menstrual bleeding in the vagina. The initial bleeding is very little, but the final bleeding and the length of bleeding vary from person to person. After the embryo implants, grows large and ruptures, it will cause internal bleeding. In addition, there will be abdominal distension and pain, which starts with cramps in the lower abdomen and sometimes discomfort at the anus.
