Precautions and diet after curettage

Precautions and diet after curettage

The main purpose of this surgical method is to avoid incomplete miscarriage after miscarriage, and to prepare for the next pregnancy. Women need to rest in bed for three days after curettage. They can get out of bed and move around after three days. They cannot engage in physical labor or come into contact with cold water within half a month after curettage. They need to supplement protein at this stage and can eat some fish to promote vaginal recovery and improve body resistance.

Precautions after curettage

The following points must be noted after curettage:

1. After the curettage, you must rest in bed for two or three days before you can get out of bed and move around slowly. You cannot do heavy physical labor within half a month after the curettage and avoid contact with cold water. It takes a month to recover from curettage, so during this period you should also pay attention to strengthening your nutrition and consume enough protein to help patients enhance their resistance and promote organ recovery. It is appropriate to eat more fish, meat, beans, etc., and also eat more fresh vegetables.

2. After the curettage, the uterus has not completely closed yet. It usually takes a month to recover to normal. During this period, you must pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva. You cannot take a bath in a tub after the operation to prevent sewage from entering the vagina and causing infection. At the same time, please note that you should not have sex within one month after the operation.

3. After the curettage, there will be vaginal bleeding, which usually does not exceed one week. If vaginal bleeding lasts for more than one week and is accompanied by abdominal pain, fever, increased leucorrhea, turbidity, odor and other symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.

4. After the curettage, the ovaries recover relatively slowly, but the ovaries will still ovulate and pregnancy can still occur during the recovery process, so contraceptive measures must be taken.

Dietary considerations after curettage

1. No hard food

Because hard food requires patients to chew hard with their teeth, which can easily cause pain in the lower vagina and is not good for the recovery of female private parts after curettage.

2. Avoid raw, cold or cool food

You cannot eat raw or cold food after curettage, especially for women with poor spleen and stomach function. Too cold food will damage the spleen and stomach and affect digestion. Also avoid eating cold foods such as crabs, snails, and clams. Because the food after miscarriage is mainly warm and nourishing, these foods are not conducive to recovery of health.

3. Eat less or no fruit

Most fruits are cold in nature, so you should eat less fruit as much as possible or it is best not to eat fruit at all, especially cool fruits such as watermelon, apples, pears, tangerines, oranges, bananas, pitaya, persimmon, etc. If you must eat, it is better to eat some warm fruits. Such as grapes, lychees, longan meat, red dates, peaches, etc.

4. Avoid spicy foods

Such as chili, wine, vinegar, pepper, ginger, etc., these foods can stimulate congestion of sexual organs and increase menstrual volume. Moreover, smoking and drinking are not conducive to the repair of the endometrium.

5. Don’t eat fried food

After curettage, you should avoid eating hot foods such as fried and spicy foods to avoid aggravating bleeding. Fried foods can aggravate symptoms such as dry mouth and constipation. Therefore, women should pay attention to not eating fried foods to maintain their health after curettage.

6. Appropriately limit fat

Although a lot of nourishment is needed after curettage, the fat content needs to be limited at appropriate times. Fat should be controlled at about 80 grams per day within one week after the operation. The degree and duration of nourishment should be determined based on a comprehensive assessment of one's own recovery situation, rather than blindly supplementing. This will not only be detrimental to the body's recovery, but will also increase the burden of weight loss.
