The gestational sac will be discharged usually after 5-6 hours, and the abdominal pain will gradually disappear.

How long does it take for the medication to work on the third day of medical abortion?

After taking the medicine, some people will feel the effect within half an hour, and generally the gestational sac will be discharged within six hours.

The third day after medical abortion is the 72-hour regimen, which is the most wrong way to take it. The last meal for medical abortion is mifepristone, and misoprostol is taken two hours later. After taking misoprostol, some people usually feel the effect within half an hour, and the gestational sac will usually be expelled within six hours. If there are still no symptoms after six hours, and you have abdominal pain but no gestational sac is expelled, we may give the drug rectally and continue to take semisoprostol until the chorion is expelled. If there is still no effect after two or three consecutive doses, we will choose direct curettage if there is heavy bleeding.

How long it takes to see a response after taking the medicine on the third day of medical abortion varies from person to person. Generally, there will be lower abdominal pain about 0.5-1 hour after taking the medicine, accompanied by a small amount of vaginal bleeding.

It starts with irregular abdominal pain, which manifests as cramps in the lower abdomen and gradually intensifies over time. The most severe abdominal pain is often when the gestational sac is about to be expelled, which usually occurs within 6 hours. After the gestational sac is expelled, the abdominal pain will gradually decrease until it disappears. Pay attention to abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding and the discharge of the gestational sac while taking the medicine.

If there is a lot of vaginal bleeding, or the gestational sac is not expelled from the body within 6 hours, timely B-ultrasound examination and other examinations are required, and uterine curettage is required if necessary. You also need to pay attention to vaginal bleeding after medical abortion. If the amount of vaginal bleeding is heavy or the bleeding lasts for a long time, you also need to do a B-ultrasound in time to understand the recovery of the uterine cavity.
