16 years old, I haven't had my period for several months

Women at the age of 16 are in the stage of puberty. Women at this stage can have normal menstruation, but because their organs are not fully developed, their menstruation will be irregular. This is normal, but as the ovaries mature, women will form their own menstrual cycle. If a 16-year-old girl has not had her period for several months, it is considered irregular menstruation and you need to pay attention to the child's hygiene and diet problems.

What is the reason for not having menstruation for several months at the age of 16?

The onset of menstruation marks the entry of girls into puberty. In fact, at this time the development of the whole body is not yet complete and the ovaries are immature, so menstruation is often irregular within 1 to 2 years after menarche. Only as the body and ovaries gradually mature will they form their own menstrual cycle.

The first menstruation was normal, and the second menstruation came again 4-5 days after the second menstruation stopped. This repeated for several months with no cycle or regularity, and almost no clean days. The menstrual flow is less, and the color of the menstrual period may be bright red, brown, or sauce-colored. If you do not feel unwell or only have mild fatigue, no treatment is needed. Menstruation usually occurs after menstruation, and is followed by irregular menstrual flow, which may be more or less. The cycle is gradually delayed and often stops, and weight gain or hirsutism may occur. Medically, it is also called "oligomenorrhea" or "oligomenorrhea".

In addition to being caused by the child's incomplete development, menstrual disorders may also be related to some functional diseases. Parents should pay attention to it to avoid missing the opportunity for treatment. Lack of attention to hygiene, gynecological inflammation, improper diet, liver qi stagnation, bad mood, spleen deficiency, kidney qi deficiency, etc. can all cause irregular menstruation.

Long-term irregular menstruation is harmful to women. In addition to seeking medical treatment or taking Chinese medicine as soon as possible, daily self-regulation, such as maintaining a happy spirit, paying attention to personal hygiene, and exercising appropriately, is also very necessary.

How to regulate scanty menstruation during puberty

This is a type of adolescent anovulatory functional uterine bleeding. In the first year after menarche, most girls have irregular menstruation. Even in the third year, half of them still have irregular menstruation. Most people will form their own cycle 3-5 years after the onset of menstruation. If an adolescent girl has irregular menstruation, with periods only once every two or three months, it may be "adolescent anovulatory functional uterine bleeding". She should go to the hospital for examination in time, use progesterone or other progestins to promote ovulation under the guidance of a doctor, pay attention to menstrual hygiene, get enough rest, strengthen nutrition, and try to eat less irritating and cold foods.

Just be careful not to eat cold or spicy food, do strenuous exercise, or take cold showers during menstruation, and you will gradually get better.

If the menstrual cycle is basically normal but the menstrual flow is significantly reduced, or even stops with a few drops, or the menstrual period is shortened to less than two days and the menstrual flow is also small, it is called oligomenorrhea, also known as scanty menstruation. It is generally believed that menstrual volume less than 30 ml is equivalent to scanty menstruation in Western medicine. The menstrual cycle is normal, the menstrual flow is very little, or even just a few drops. There are also cases where the menstrual period is shortened to less than two days and the menstrual flow is also very little. These are the key points for the diagnosis of this disease. This disease is often a precursor to amenorrhea. Oligomenorrhea may be associated with menstrual cycle abnormalities, such as scanty early or late menstruation.
