A large solid mass of vaginal discharge

Women should always observe their leucorrhea. Once there is any abnormality in the leucorrhea, it definitely means there is a gynecological problem. It is definitely very abnormal if the leucorrhea is a large solid mass, which means that a gynecological disease has occurred. You must go to the hospital for examination in time. Normal leucorrhea does not have any odor and is a transparent white liquid. If the leucorrhea is yellow or has blood, these should be taken seriously, because there are many gynecological diseases in women, each of which may affect pregnancy, and women must be responsible for themselves.

Is it normal to have a large solid mass of vaginal discharge?

This is abnormal. Normal physiological leucorrhea is a white, thin, paste-like liquid, generally odorless. Under normal circumstances, leucorrhea plays the role of moisturizing the skin of the labia and vagina.

The sebaceous glands of the labia secrete a viscous milky fluid; the Bartholin's glands secrete a colorless, clear, acidic fluid; the vaginal epithelium has no glands, and its white, thin, paste-like fluid is the exudate of the vaginal mucosa and is acidic; the cervical mucus is alkaline, like egg white; the endometrial secretions are thinner and less in quantity than the cervical mucus. The amount of vaginal discharge varies and is related to age, estrogen levels and congestion of the reproductive organs.

1. Vaginal pH

The normal vaginal pH is 4-4.5, which is slightly acidic and can prevent pathogenic bacteria from multiplying in the vagina.

2. Vaginal cleanliness

Vaginal cleanliness can be divided into 4 levels: Level I: A large number of vaginal epithelial cells and vaginal bacilli can be seen under a microscope. Grade II: Vaginal epithelial cells, a small amount of white blood cells, some vaginal bacilli, and a small amount of miscellaneous bacteria or pus cells are seen under the microscope. Grade III: A small amount of vaginal bacilli, a large number of pus cells and miscellaneous bacteria are seen under the microscope. Grade IV: No vaginal bacilli are seen under the microscope, and except for a small amount of epithelial cells, there are mainly pus cells and miscellaneous bacteria. Grades I to II are normal, and grades III to IV are abnormal leucorrhea, indicating vaginal inflammation.

3. Vaginal microbes

Normal situation: None. There will usually be items such as fungi, trichomonas, and gonococci. If there are any, it will be marked as "+" (positive) on the result, and if not, it will be marked as "-" (negative).

4. Amine test

Also known as the amine odor test, it is a method for diagnosing bacterial vaginosis. If you suffer from bacterial gynecological inflammation, your leucorrhea may have a fishy odor, because the amines produced by anaerobic bacteria release ammonia when they come into contact with potassium hydroxide.

5. Clue cells are the most sensitive and specific sign of bacterial vaginosis. The diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis can be made based on a positive amine test and the presence of clue cells.

Before checking for leucorrhea, please pay attention to the following points:

1. Avoid sexual intercourse within 24 hours before the leucorrhea examination.

2. Avoid taking a bath, vaginal douching, or applying topical medication before the examination.

3. It is not advisable to check leucorrhea before or after menstruation, during pregnancy, or after taking estrogen drugs.
