Placenta previa after cesarean section

Placenta previa after cesarean section

Caesarean section has also become a method of delivery that many women tend to choose, mainly because the pain of delivery during the caesarean section can be greatly reduced. However, caesarean section will cause great trauma to the mother's uterus, so after a caesarean section, if you want to have a second child, you must carefully adjust your body and try to keep a gap of more than three years. What should a woman do if she has a placenta previa when she is pregnant with her second child after a caesarean section?

1. Expectant treatment

This method can be used if the pregnancy is within 9 months, the baby weighs no more than 2,300 grams, has vital signs, and the amount of bleeding is small, and the expectant mother is in good physical condition.

(1) Bed rest: Under the supervision of a doctor, you can take sedatives three times a day, such as the common Valium, Lumina, etc.

(2) Inhibit uterine contractions: Take 2.4 to 4.8 mg of salbutamol, with an interval of 4 to 6 hours between each dose. Once the uterine contractions are suppressed, maintenance doses can be given.

(3) Improve anemia: Take 0.3 ml of ferrous sulfate orally three times a day. In severe cases, blood transfusion is required.

(4) Prevention of infection: Use antibiotics, such as penicillin, cefotaxime, etc. to prevent infection.

(5) Promote fetal lung maturity: 10 mg of dexamethasone injected intramuscularly or intravenously every day for three days can effectively help the fetal lungs mature.

(6) Closely monitor the condition: Cooperate with the doctor to check the fetus, understand the maturity of the fetus, and perform B-ultrasound. If the amount of bleeding is heavy and the frequency is high, termination of pregnancy should be considered.

2. Cesarean section to terminate pregnancy.

3. Vaginal delivery.

After a caesarean section for the first child, the second child may have placenta previa. The impact can be major or minor. Pregnant women with symptoms of placenta previa must pay attention to it. Three methods are proposed above for what to do if the second baby has placenta previa after cesarean section. Detailed relief steps are also listed for mild placenta previa. I hope it will be helpful to all pregnant women.
