Will a caesarean section cause postpartum illness?

Will a caesarean section cause postpartum illness?

Many women have fallen into a misunderstanding regarding postpartum illness. In their opinion, postpartum illness is entirely caused by a weak body, while their bodies are relatively strong, even after giving birth, so they don't need to be so careful during the confinement period. Little do they know that women who hold such thoughts basically suffer from postpartum diseases. So, what methods should mothers who have had caesarean sections use to prevent postpartum diseases?

When should the mother get out of bed and move around?

Many people believe that a new mother has a weak constitution and needs rest, so she should stay in bed for a long time and even eat in bed. In fact, this practice has more disadvantages than advantages and is not conducive to uterine contraction and intestinal peristalsis. This causes them to have poor uterine recovery and constipation.

Correct approach: It is advisable to move around as soon as possible after delivery. A healthy mother can get out of bed and move around 6 to 12 hours after delivery, such as getting up to urinate or defecate, walking in bed, breastfeeding, etc. Women who have undergone cesarean section can lie on their side 6 hours after the operation, sit up 24 hours after the operation, and start appropriate activities. However, mothers should avoid strenuous exercise. At the same time, if pain increases during exercise, they should stop and resume again after returning to normal.

Do I need to cover myself during confinement?

Many people believe that mothers are afraid of wind, so they close the doors and windows of the mother's room, and the mothers wrap their heads and legs to prevent themselves from being exposed to the wind. In fact, this kind of environment and lifestyle is not conducive to the recovery of the mother and can easily cause heatstroke.

Correct approach: Keep the room clean, ventilate at least twice a day in the morning and evening, and the room should have sufficient sunlight, appropriate temperature and humidity. In summer, the air conditioning temperature is generally between 26 and 28 degrees, and in winter, the room temperature is preferably between 22 and 25 degrees.

Do mothers have to use boiling water to wash their faces and take baths during the confinement period?

Many mothers feel that their bodies are weak during the confinement period and cannot stand the slightest bit of cold. When washing your face or taking a bath, people use cold water or hot water to add to boiling water, thinking that it can prevent colds and flu. In fact, this has no scientific basis. Because there was no running water in the past, the river water used was not clean and of course it needed to be boiled before use. The tap water we use now has been disinfected and is more hygienic and clean. If cold boiled water is kept for a long time, it is more likely to cause bacteria to multiply, which is troublesome.

Correct approach: The water used by the mother must be warm, which can be mixed with boiling water and tap water.

Do pregnant women need to avoid certain foods during the confinement period?

Many postpartum women have the habit of abstaining from certain foods, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, shrimp and many other things. In fact, postpartum women need sufficient and rich nutrition, and the staple and side dishes should be diversified. Eating only one or two foods cannot meet the body's needs, and it is not conducive to the secretion of milk by the mammary glands. Therefore, mothers should never cover their own mouths.

Correct approach: During the confinement period, the mother's diet should be diversified, with a combination of vegetarian and meat, 5-6 meals a day. In addition to fish, chicken, meat and seafood, you should also eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
