There are four basic principles to follow when eating to gain weight:

1. Ensure sufficient calories. If a thin person wants to gain weight, the most fundamental point is to ensure that the calorie intake is greater than the calorie output. Since the calories the human body consumes mainly come from staple foods (such as rice, noodles), fat and protein, you should first eat three good meals.

2. Eat small meals frequently. If you only eat three meals a day, you have to eat a lot if you want to gain weight, which is undoubtedly a problem for the deflated stomach of a thin person. Moreover, most thin people have weak gastrointestinal function. Eating too much in one meal often cannot be effectively absorbed. Instead, it will increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract and cause indigestion, which is counterproductive. However, the intervals between meals are long, and calories and nutrition are not supplied continuously and in a timely manner, making it difficult to gain weight. Therefore, the number of meals per day should be changed to 5 to 6 meals, with breakfast, lunch and dinner as the main meals, and appropriate snacks.

3. Have a scientific snack before going to bed. The time of sleep at night is the period of active secretion of synthetic hormones such as growth hormone and insulin in the human body. These synthetic hormones help promote the anabolism of human protein and promote the growth and development of the body. High-quality sleep helps the secretion of the above-mentioned synthetic hormones. The most effective way is to drink a cup of sweetened milk or a bowl of warm millet porridge half an hour before going to bed. You can also eat some high-protein foods or desserts.

4. Choose food wisely. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that people who are thin often have yin deficiency and hot constitution. The diet for thin people should focus on nourishing yin and clearing heat. In addition to choosing foods rich in animal protein in daily diet, they can eat more soy products, vegetables, fruits, etc. Eat other foods with cool properties in moderation, such as black fungus, mushrooms, bitter gourd, etc.
