Hiccups in early pregnancy

Hiccups in early pregnancy

Hiccups in the early stages of pregnancy are caused by changes in hormones in the body. Changes in hormones can lead to increased gastric acid secretion and slower gastrointestinal motility, which in turn lead to increased gastrointestinal gas accumulation. Therefore, hiccups in the early stages of pregnancy are very normal. If you are always hiccuping in the early stages of pregnancy, you can pat your back, eat some alkaline foods to neutralize stomach acid, and walk around appropriately to relieve morning sickness and hiccups.

Why do I always hiccup when I'm pregnant?

1. In the early stages of pregnancy, due to hormone changes in the body, the stomach's ability to excrete acid is poor, stomach acid is relatively high, intestinal motility is slow, and excessive gas is produced;

2. In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, the uterus slowly expands. After 5 months of pregnancy, it will exceed the navel. All the intestines will be squeezed to the top and left and right sides of the stomach. The entire space is occupied by the uterus, so it is easy to compress the large intestine and small intestine, and the peristaltic ability will also become worse. These are the reasons why pregnant women hiccup.

3. In the late pregnancy, the pregnant mother will feel more comfortable after the uterus descends and the fetal head enters the pelvis.

Here are a few things you can try:

1. Press the eyeball: When you hiccup, press your palm on the eyeball and apply a little pressure. Then a stream of gas will be discharged from the stomach and the hiccups will stop.

If pressing the eyeball is not effective, you can press the upper edge of the eye socket instead, find the painful point on the edge of the eye socket, and then press and rub it vigorously a few times, and the hiccups will disappear. However, this method is not suitable for people with glaucoma, severe myopia and heart disease.

2. Stretching the tongue: When you hiccup, wrap a piece of clean gauze on your tongue, pinch your tongue with your fingers and stretch it outwards. At this time, you will feel gas rising in the abdomen and the hiccups will stop naturally.

3. Drink sweet and sour juice: Use 2 tablespoons of vinegar and add 1 tablespoon of sugar to make sweet and sour juice. Drinking it can stop hiccups.

4. Drink warm water: When you have hiccups, take a big sip of warm water, hold it in your mouth, swallow it 7 times, and wait for a while, it can effectively stop the hiccups.
