Is it accurate to tell the gender of a baby by looking at stretch marks?

After a woman becomes pregnant, she is particularly curious about whether the baby in her belly is a boy or a girl. Some people like little girls and some people like little boys. Therefore, after a woman becomes pregnant, people will actively go to the hospital for examination and then make a judgment. Some people do not want to go to the hospital for examination but want to use other methods to identify the gender of the fetus. Some people will look at stretch marks to determine the gender of the baby. So is it accurate to use stretch marks to determine the gender of the baby? Let’s take a closer look.

Some pregnant women have wider stretch marks, and most of them give birth to girls; some pregnant women have narrower stretch marks, and most of them give birth to boys. This is a method of judging the gender of the fetus based on the thickness of the stretch marks.

Some people also judge whether the baby is a boy or a girl by looking at the position of the stretch marks around the belly button. If the stretch marks are located to the left above the navel of a pregnant woman, she will most likely give birth to a boy. Otherwise, the chances of giving birth to a girl are greater.

Experts believe that although this folk saying cannot be completely denied, it is impossible to judge whether the baby is a boy or a girl based on the thickness and location of stretch marks? After all, stretch marks will appear differently from person to person. There are simply no rules to follow.

Because each individual is different, the color depth, width and narrowness of stretch marks are all caused by the hormone levels in the body. It is not determined by the sex of the fetus. Therefore, it is not reliable to predict the gender of the fetus based on stretch marks.

Other ways to tell the gender of a man from a woman:

1. If I have severe morning sickness, will I give birth to a boy?

On the contrary, pregnant women with severe pregnancy reactions are more likely to give birth to girls. In 1999, researchers analyzed 8,186 pregnant women in Sweden who were hospitalized for pregnancy reactions and found that only 44.3% gave birth to boys.

2. Will a woman with a good appetite give birth to a boy?

Although research from Boston Hospital in the United States shows that pregnant women carrying boys generally have a better appetite than those carrying girls, the difference is not large enough to accurately predict the sex of the fetus. Xiao Yalan, head nurse of the obstetrics and gynecology department of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, also said that changes in the taste of pregnant women after pregnancy are related to individual differences of pregnant women, as well as gestational age, pregnancy environment, mood, etc., but have nothing to do with the gender of the child.

3. If you like sour food, you will give birth to a son, and if you like spicy food, you will give birth to a

"Sour boy, spicy girl" is a folk saying. Fan Qingbo, deputy chief physician of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, pointed out that this can only be regarded as a summary of people's feelings about childbirth experience. From a medical point of view, if a pregnant woman has a decreased appetite, she will indeed be more sensitive to sour or spicy foods. This is a normal pregnancy reaction with individual differences and has nothing to do with the gender of the fetus.
