Right lower abdominal pain female

The body structures of men and women are very different, so even if pain occurs in the same area, the pain symptoms may be caused by different organs. Among them, lower abdominal pain is a symptom that occurs in most women. The causes of lower abdominal pain are not just simple gastrointestinal pain, but may also be related to problems with reproductive organ diseases. Next, we will sort out the causes of pain in the right lower abdomen for female friends.

Causes and symptoms of right lower abdominal pain

Clinically, there are many reasons for women's right lower abdominal pain. The most common reasons are:

1. Appendicitis

There are many factors that cause appendicitis. It is a common surgical disease, and acute appendicitis is the most common. One of the clinical symptoms of acute appendicitis is abdominal pain, which often manifests as pain in the upper and middle abdomen or around the umbilicus in the early stage. After a few hours, the abdominal pain transfers and fixes to the right lower abdomen. When the inflammation spreads to the serosa and parietal peritoneum, the pain is fixed in the right lower abdomen, and the original pain in the upper abdomen or around the umbilicus is alleviated or disappears. In addition, the abdominal pain of appendicitis is also accompanied by corresponding gastrointestinal symptoms (such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc.) and fever (mostly low fever).

Chronic appendicitis is also accompanied by pain in the right lower abdomen, which is characterized by intermittent dull pain or bloating, sometimes severe and sometimes mild, and the location is relatively fixed. Most patients will experience abdominal pain after exercise, fatigue, cold, and a full stomach.

2. Gynecological inflammation

Many gynecological inflammations can also cause pain in the right lower abdomen of women, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis, etc. This condition often occurs in women of childbearing age. Pelvic inflammatory disease can be divided into acute and chronic, and is mostly caused by retrograde bacteria. The clinical manifestations of both are abdominal pain. Acute pelvic inflammatory disease is often manifested as persistent abdominal pain, accompanied by fever, headache, loss of appetite, etc.; the symptoms of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease are often manifested as lower abdominal distension, pain and soreness in the lumbar region, and are often accompanied by abnormal menstruation and irregular menstruation.

Among the female internal reproductive organs, the fallopian tubes and ovaries are called uterine appendages, and adnexitis refers to the inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries. Among pelvic organ inflammations, salpingitis is the most common. Adnexitis can be divided into acute and chronic. Acute adnexitis is mainly characterized by acute lower abdominal pain accompanied by fever. Chronic adnexitis is characterized by lower abdominal distension, pain, and lumbar pain, which may be mild or severe, and is accompanied by increased leucorrhea, low back pain, and menstrual disorders.

3. Pain caused by menstruation

Women may also experience lower abdominal pain during menstruation, and it is more common in adolescent women. Most of these are physiological phenomena, mostly primary dysmenorrhea, which can heal on its own.

4. Follicle rupture

It often occurs during the ovulation period and causes abdominal pain due to ovulation. Generally speaking, lower abdominal pain caused by ruptured ovulatory follicles during ovulation does not cause adverse health consequences, but it may develop gynecological emergencies in some people.

5. Acute small intestinal obstruction

Acute intestinal obstruction is one of the common surgical acute abdomens, often manifested by abdominal distension, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and cessation of anal flatulence. The abdominal pain is mostly persistent and severe, with frequent paroxysmal aggravations without complete rest. Vomiting cannot relieve the abdominal pain and distension, and vomiting occurs early and is more frequent. In addition, low-positioned small intestinal obstruction causes obvious abdominal distension, and closed-loop small intestinal obstruction causes asymmetric abdominal distension. An isolated swollen large intestinal loop can be felt, and there is no gas or bowel movement.
