Urinary incontinence in late pregnancy

Urinary incontinence in late pregnancy

Pregnant women will encounter many uncomfortable symptoms during pregnancy, severe cases may also have an adverse effect on the development of the fetus. Among them, the more problems they face in the late pregnancy. For example, many pregnant women have symptoms of urinary incontinence, making life very embarrassing and helpless. This situation lasts for a very long time. Let’s take a look at what to do if you can’t urinate completely in the late pregnancy? I hope you all understand.

1. Pay attention to hygiene

During pregnancy, you should avoid adverse factors such as fatigue, lack of sleep, and mental depression, and maintain good physical condition. Develop the habit of wiping from front to back after defecation to avoid bringing dirt near the anus into the vulva, and insist on cleaning the vulva once a day. In addition, pregnant women should avoid holding urine.

2. Drink plenty of water

Because of the physiological changes during pregnancy, urine flow may become obstructed. Maintain adequate water intake to increase urine flow, flush the urethra, and make it less likely for bacteria to remain in the urinary tract.

3. Pay attention to your sleeping posture

In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, the enlarged uterus compresses the bilateral ureters when the patient lies in the supine position, causing urine to retain and become susceptible to infection. Taking a side-lying position, especially the left side, can relieve the pressure of the uterus on the ureter, which is not only beneficial for the smooth flow of urine and the prevention of urinary tract infection, but also can increase the blood supply to the fetus.

4. Moderate sex life

It is not advisable to have sexual intercourse during the first three months of pregnancy and one month before the expected date of delivery. The former is prone to cause miscarriage, while the latter is prone to induce premature rupture of membranes and premature birth. The frequency of sexual intercourse should also be greatly reduced during other stages of pregnancy. Sexual intercourse can easily squeeze bacteria lurking in the urethra or the external urethra into the bladder and cause cystitis, especially in mothers with a history of urinary tract infection. It is best to avoid sexual intercourse during pregnancy.

5. Seek medical attention promptly

If a pregnant woman experiences frequent urination, urgent urination, painful urination, or hematuria, she must go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time and do not delay waiting for self-healing. Or they treat themselves and prescribe the right medicine without authorization to save trouble. Under the guidance of a doctor, you can choose antibiotics that are harmless to the fetus. First consider the use of ampicillin and cephalosporins.
