Why do women have back pain?

Why do women have back pain?

The physiological structure of women is very different from that of men, so even if pain occurs in the same part of the body, the causes of the pain may be different. All women should pay attention to the problem of low back pain, because low back pain may be caused by more serious reproductive organ diseases. The following article will sort out the specific factors causing low back pain for female friends.

Causes of back pain in women

1. Sacrospinous ligament relaxation

After pregnancy, the growth of the fetus may increase the support force of the waist, leading to relaxation of the sacrospinous ligament, compressing the pelvic nerves and blood vessels and causing low back pain. This type of low back pain will generally disappear gradually as the waist muscle strength recovers after delivery.

2. Lumbar muscle strain

Excessive physical fatigue, abnormal standing or sitting postures, etc. can all lead to lumbar muscle strain and cause chronic dull pain in the lower back. You should pay attention to the combination of work and rest in daily life.

3. Pelvic tumors

More common in middle-aged women. Common causes include uterine fibroids, cervical cancer, ovarian cysts, etc., which cause low back pain due to tumor compression of nerves or cancer cells infiltration of pelvic connective tissue. The traction of the tumor itself on the peritoneum can also cause low back pain.

4. Abnormal IUD

This disease is an aspect that cannot be ignored that causes low back pain in women. Abnormalities of the IUD include the IUD model not matching the uterine cavity, the IUD being too elastic, or the IUD being in an abnormal position. An improperly inserted IUD gets lodged in the uterine cavity, irritating the uterine wall and causing reflex lower back pain. In this case, the IUD can be removed and replaced.

5. Abnormal uterine position

The normal uterus is in a slightly anteverted and flexed position, and the surrounding ligaments move freely. When the uterus is retroflexed or tilted, inflammation of the uterus and surrounding areas will cause adhesions, causing tractional low back pain. This situation often occurs after frequent abortions, multiple births or other uterine surgeries. Uterine prolapse, prolapse or high adhesion in the abdominal cavity can pull the ligaments and cause low back pain. There is no special treatment for this type of low back pain. Correcting uterine prolapse and changing body position can relieve the symptoms.

6. Wearing high heels for a long time

Wearing high heels for a long time will affect the balance of the lower limbs and make it easy to suffer from acute lumbar sprain. When a sprain occurs, the muscles and ligaments will be torn to varying degrees and there will be slight bleeding, swelling, and even bruising, which may manifest as low back pain and cause great inconvenience to work and life.

7. Lumbar disc herniation

This disease is a common cause of low back pain in young and middle-aged women. It is mostly caused by lumbar injury and long-term chronic strain, and manifests as lumbar pain, radiating pain and numbness in the lower limbs, etc. Treatments include bed traction and surgery.

8. Osteoporosis

This disease is the most common cause of low back pain in middle-aged and elderly women. Especially after menopause in women, due to the decrease in bone mass in the spine and the reduction in the load-bearing capacity of the spine, the body will experience low back pain when bearing weight or even walking.

9. Genitourinary tract infection

Due to their anatomical and physiological characteristics, women are susceptible to urinary tract infections, such as acute and chronic pyelonephritis, gonorrhea, cervicitis, cervical erosion, etc., which manifest as soreness or sharp pain in the lower back and radiate along the ureter to the perineum. In addition, urinary stones, tuberculosis, etc. can also cause low back pain.

10. Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease

This condition is the most common cause of low back pain in women. Most of them are caused by acute pelvic inflammation in women after cesarean section, ovarian cystectomy or appendicitis, which is not treated in time. It is characterized by three major symptoms: low back pain, intermittent pain in the lower abdomen, and increased vaginal discharge. Low back pain is caused by increased inflammatory exudates, which leads to pelvic adhesions, seriously affecting life and health. Therefore, it is particularly important to treat diseases early and prevent them early if you are healthy.
