How to deal with wasp stings

How to deal with wasp stings

I believe many people are familiar with hornets. This is a common animal in people’s daily lives. Hornets are not considered pests, but because their stings contain venom, if you are stung by a hornet, there will be many adverse reactions, the most common of which are redness, swelling and itching, and in severe cases, it can be fatal. So, how should you deal with being stung by a wasp?

1. What to do if you are stung by a wasp

1. After being stung by a bee, you should first check the wound carefully. If the stinger is still in the wound, you will see a small black dot on the skin. You can pick it out with tweezers or a needle tip, or stick it with tape and then peel it off. Then wash it with clean water and apply iodine tincture to the affected area.

2. Apply 5% soda water, soapy water or 3% ammonia water locally. For wasp stings, no medicine is needed but acetic acid or vinegar can be applied locally.

3. Use 20% aluminum acetate solution for cold wet compress to reduce swelling directly if the pain is severe.

4. Mash the garlic or ginger or apply the juice to the affected area.

5. Cut the fresh eggplant and apply it to the affected area or add appropriate amount of sugar and mash it together and apply it.

6. Mash fresh violet yedoensis, lobelia, dandelion, wild chrysanthemum, leek, etc. together or individually and apply to the affected area.

7. In severe cases, antihistamines, snake medicine or corticosteroids can be used to overcome the condition. Those with severe reactions such as shock should be rescued immediately.

2. What kind of people do wasps like to sting?

1. The activity area is invaded. When residents unknowingly invade the wasp activity area, it will trigger a wasp attack;

2. Wasps are sensitive to the smell of cosmetics, fragrances in food seasonings, etc., and are likely to attack people who use cosmetics.

3. How poisonous are hornets?

1. Histamine toxins can cause allergies in patients, resulting in laryngeal edema and dyspnea;

2. Hemolytic toxins, which are similar to poisoning after being bitten by a snake. Hemoglobin is dissolved, the patient's urine is soy sauce-colored, and there will be obvious renal failure and severe liver damage;

3. Neurotoxins can affect the patient's nervous system function, causing confusion or even coma.

Symptoms of being stung by a wasp

Hornets are highly poisonous and usually attack in groups. In addition, some people are allergic to bee venom, so after being stung by them, the wound may become red and swollen and the pain may be unbearable in mild cases, while severe cases may cause bleeding in the internal organs and digestive tract, and even death. Generally speaking, being stung by more than 30 hornets is likely to result in death.
