Pregnant women's examinations

Pregnant women's examinations

There are many examinations to be done during pregnancy. A file will be established during the first examination after pregnancy, and then the doctor will arrange the date of each examination according to the pregnancy period of each pregnant woman. In addition to some routine examinations, there are also some special examinations to ensure the healthy development of the baby. During pregnancy, expectant mothers must have regular check-ups and follow the doctor's instructions.

Various tests to be done during pregnancy

1. In order to confirm pregnancy when necessary in early pregnancy, or to determine whether the pregnancy is normal if there is vaginal bleeding, a blood or urine β-HCG test is required.

2. After confirming a normal pregnancy, a systematic prenatal examination should be carried out at a local hospital at 12 weeks of pregnancy. The first prenatal examination generally includes the following: routine urine test, routine leucorrhea test, routine blood test, coagulation profile, ABO blood type, Rh blood type, liver and kidney function test, hepatitis B two-pair-half test, HIV, syphilis antibody test, B-ultrasound, electrocardiogram, and Down syndrome screening (early stage is from 9 to 13+6 weeks of pregnancy, and mid-stage is from 16 to 20+6 weeks of pregnancy).

3. Blood and urine routine tests need to be repeated during pregnancy, and hemoglobin should be checked at least 3 times during the entire pregnancy. After the initial urine routine test, the number of tests should be increased depending on the situation.

4. Every pregnant woman between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy needs to undergo a screening test of blood sugar one hour after taking 50g of glucose orally. If the result is ≥5.8mmol/L, a further oral glucose tolerance test of 75g is required to further determine whether there is any abnormality in glucose metabolism.

Precautions for pregnant women

During each physical examination, clothes should be loose and easy to put on and take off. The heels of shoes should not be high, but they should not be completely flat either. Low heels of two or three centimeters are better. There are many things to check, so prepare a bag and put all the necessary checklists together to avoid being in a rush and not being able to find them every time. If you have any questions about your body's reactions at home or don't understand test results, be sure to ask your doctor.

Regular check-ups: The following items, such as B-ultrasound, blood routine, Down syndrome screening, fetal heart rate monitoring and umbilical cord blood flow, are examinations that pregnant mothers will undergo at certain stages of pregnancy.

Ultrasound: Every pregnant mother will undergo at least 3 ultrasounds during the entire pregnancy, approximately after 12 weeks, 24 or 25 weeks, and 36 weeks. In the later stages of pregnancy, B-ultrasound can roughly estimate the weight range of the fetus and understand the situation in the uterus so that doctors and pregnant mothers can decide the method of delivery.

Pregnancy check-up costs

The cost of prenatal check-ups is generally around 2,000 yuan, including the money spent from the first prenatal check-up to the last prenatal check-up before delivery. However, this fee is not fixed. Some expectant mothers may need to treat certain diseases or even need hospitalization, which may cost more. In addition, due to different levels of economic development in different regions, hospital charges will also vary. For most expectant mothers, the normal expenses for checkups throughout pregnancy are between 1,500 and 2,000 yuan, but it is not ruled out that the cost may be higher or lower.
