Progesterone is a normal change response of a woman's body after pregnancy. Normal progesterone levels should be maintained in the early stages of pregnancy. Because if the progesterone value is maintained well, pregnant women will not experience major changes in their bodies. Once the progesterone value is abnormal, it means that the fetus is poorly developed. Therefore, progesterone levels are often checked in early pregnancy. But do we not need to check progesterone levels after a few weeks? In the early stages of pregnancy, the main tests are progesterone and hCG, which are important reference values for embryonic development. If these two values are abnormal, miscarriage is very likely to occur. Progesterone levels increase with gestational age. Progesterone stimulates changes in the uterus during childbirth, has a certain stimulating effect on the uterus, promotes embryonic development by increasing blood circulation in the reproductive system's blood vessels and tissues, and keeps the fetus safely protected in the mother's stomach. In some early women, low progesterone will cause abdominal pain and slight vaginal bleeding, and they need to stay in bed to protect the fetus. However, for women who do not have any signs of pregnancy, if the progesterone value is less than 15nmol/L, do a progesterone test every other day and then observe carefully. During the first three months of pregnancy, it is necessary to check the progesterone level and pay attention to maintaining normal progesterone values (≥25 ng/ml). After the placenta is formed 3 months into the pregnancy, progesterone, which is the supplier of the placenta, will always remain rising. Therefore, you can ignore it after the placenta is formed. After 3 months of pregnancy, the progesterone secreted by the placenta can replace the ovaries to maintain pregnancy, and there is no need to inject progesterone to supplement it. Pregnant women need to note that low progesterone levels during pregnancy indicate luteal insufficiency during pregnancy. Corpus luteum dysfunction leads to embryonic sac hypoplasia, adnexal hypoplasia, etc. Of course, other reasons may also cause poor development of the embryonic sac and appendages, leading to abnormal secretion of HCG trophoblast. Due to the lack of sufficient HCG stimulation of the corpus luteum of pregnancy, progesterone secretion is insufficient. Therefore, in cases of luteal insufficiency, that is, when the progesterone level is low, it is difficult to become pregnant, and even if pregnancy is successful, spontaneous abortion is likely to occur. |
