What is a good diet for women with hyperthyroidism?

In life, women are more likely to have endocrine problems than men, because women's bodies secrete not only estrogen but also progesterone and other hormones. Therefore, a little carelessness can lead to endocrine disorders and diseases. Relatively speaking, women are more likely to suffer from endocrine diseases such as hyperthyroidism than men, so they should pay attention to prevention in time. So, what should women with hyperthyroidism eat?

Hyperthyroidism is a common endocrine disease in women. The cause of the disease is relatively complex, and different treatment methods are needed clinically, such as long-term drug control and dietary treatment. If the severity increases, surgical treatment is also required. What the experts want to talk about today is how to use diet to complement treatment.

Clinically, some people with hyperthyroidism eat a lot, but are still relatively thin, easily hungry, weak, afraid of heat, and have damp skin. The most common clinical manifestations of hyperthyroidism are fever, diarrhea and emotional agitation. In severe cases, the heart rhythm may also be irregular, so active treatment should be carried out. However, you also need to adhere to certain dietary rules.

First of all, patients with hyperthyroidism need to eat a high-calorie diet. Combined with clinical treatment and the patient's eating habits, under normal circumstances, the calorie supply should be increased by more than half of the usual amount. The calorie supply per person per day is about 3,000 kcal.

For patients with hyperthyroidism, the high-protein diet should increase by about 1.5 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day, depending on the patient's physical condition. There are many high-protein foods, such as eggs or lean meat, but high-quality protein also needs to be considered.

It is best for patients with hyperthyroidism to supplement their diet with a certain amount of B vitamins or sufficient vitamin C every day. A high-vitamin diet is also needed by patients. Eat adequate amounts of minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium.

Finally, the most important thing is that patients with hyperthyroidism cannot eat diets high in iodine. This is because a certain amount of iodine is required to synthesize thyroid hormone. If the synthesis and release of thyroid hormone is inhibited, a person's thyroid hormone synthesis rate will increase over time. The thyroid gland will exist in large quantities in the human blood, and a person's hyperthyroidism will recur or worsen. For this reason, you should not eat a diet high in iodine for a long time.
