When should the pregnancy test be done?

When should the pregnancy test be done?

To put it simply, preparing for pregnancy means making some preparations for future pregnancy. For men, they should change their bad living habits and eat more nutritious food. For women, there are many things to do in preparation for pregnancy, especially folic acid supplementation, which must be done as soon as possible. How can you know whether your body is healthy? Of course, you need a physical examination. So, should I check before pregnancy?

In order to ensure good birth and upbringing, pre-pregnancy check-up is very necessary. It is generally recommended to start the check-up 3-6 months before pregnancy, including both husband and wife. It is best for women to have a pregnancy test within 3-7 days after their menstrual period ends, without having sex. If other problems are found during pre-pregnancy check-ups, there will still be time for intervention and treatment. Therefore, it is advisable to conduct a pre-pregnancy check at least 3 months in advance, and both husband and wife should do it at the same time.

What are the items in the pregnancy test?

Pre-pregnancy check-up is done by a couple, not by one person. As long as the following aspects are met:

1. Routine blood tests

This test can tell you the level of hemoglobin, so if you have anemia, you can start treatment first. It can also get the platelet count. Platelets are related to coagulation function, so too many or too few will cause bleeding, so people with platelet problems must get treatment before they are suitable for pregnancy. This test can also measure the size of red blood cells (MCV), which helps detect thalassemia carriers.

2. Syphilis serum test and HIV test

This is a test for 2 sexually transmitted diseases. Syphilis can affect the fetus, but fortunately it can be treated, and as long as it is completely cured, you can get pregnant with peace of mind; AIDS is troublesome, but at least we should not let this adult Black Death affect the next generation, and do not let innocent AIDS babies come into this world.

3. Measles antibody test

Getting measles during pregnancy can cause fetal abnormalities, so expectant mothers who do not have antibodies are advised to get the measles vaccine first. However, it should be noted that you cannot get pregnant within three months after vaccination, so you must take contraceptive measures.

4. Hepatitis B test

Hepatitis B itself will not affect the fetus. Even if the mother is highly contagious or a carrier of hepatitis B antigen, the newborn can be protected by immunoglobulin immediately after birth. However, it is always more reassuring to know whether you are a carrier of hepatitis B antigen before pregnancy. If you are neither a carrier nor have antibodies, you can receive hepatitis B vaccine injection first. Prevention is better than cure.
