Sudden dizziness in late pregnancy

Sudden dizziness in late pregnancy

In the late pregnancy, as the fetus gradually develops, the physical burden on the mother is relatively heavy. If she exercises less, her physical condition will become relatively poor. In addition, if she develops gestational hypertension or diabetes, she may suddenly feel dizzy. The main cause of dizziness is insufficient blood supply to the brain. At this time, she must receive good care in time.

Sudden dizziness in late pregnancy

Dizziness is mainly caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain.

1. Pregnant women with low blood pressure and cerebral ischemia usually faint when they stand up suddenly or take the elevator. For pregnant women with pre-existing hypertension, the drop in blood pressure will be even greater. When blood pressure drops, blood flow to the brain will decrease, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the brain, causing cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, which in turn causes dizziness.

2. Eating too little and having low blood sugar. Pregnant women of this type sometimes experience dizziness, accompanied by palpitations, fatigue, and cold sweats, which usually occur when they eat less.

3. Improper posture compresses blood vessels. This type of pregnant woman usually has an attack when she is lying on her back or sitting on the sofa watching TV, but not when she is lying on her side or standing.

4. Anemia is also a common cause of dizziness in pregnant women. Pregnant women should usually consume iron-rich foods, such as animal blood, pork liver, lean meat, etc. Once anemia occurs, iron supplementation should be done urgently. Pregnant women may also experience symptoms such as dizziness and headaches.

What should pregnant women do if they feel dizzy in late pregnancy?

1. To supplement nutrition, eat small meals frequently.

2. Have regular prenatal checkups and measure blood pressure and blood iron levels to see if they are normal.

3. Don’t maintain the same posture for a long time.

4. When entering the second half of pregnancy, expectant mothers should try to lie on their left side.

5. Move slowly when getting up from lying down or sitting.

6. If you feel dizzy, you should rest more. You can lie down with your head flat and raise your legs slightly.
