Consequences of nephritis in women

Not only men suffer from kidney disease, but women also suffer from it. The incidence of nephritis in middle-aged women is also relatively high. Because the causes of nephritis in women are mainly closely related to mental stress and physical fatigue, middle-aged women should relax their body and mind appropriately. What are the consequences of middle-aged women suffering from nephritis?

1. Reasons why young and middle-aged women are prone to chronic nephritis.

Experts believe that the reason why women in this age group are prone to chronic nephritis is because they are under a lot of stress and are easily irritated. There are also other reasons such as overwork. Experts remind young and middle-aged female friends to pay attention to chronic nephritis.

Women are more likely to suffer from chronic nephritis than men, and middle-aged and young women account for the majority. This is mainly related to women's physiological characteristics and stress. Women have shorter urinary tracts and are more likely to have retrograde infections, which is an important factor in damaging the kidneys. High stress can also lead to decreased immune function and metabolic abnormalities, which are disease-inducing factors.

Chronic nephritis does not necessarily have particularly obvious symptoms. Clinical manifestations include: symptoms that appear 2 to 3 weeks after scarlet fever infection, upper respiratory tract infection, and skin purulent infection, such as fever, vomiting, loss of appetite, nausea, fatigue, and hematuria. There may also be edema, mostly swelling of the face and eyelids, and a pale complexion. The swelling is more obvious in the ankles and calves and progresses more quickly. In adults, high blood pressure and edema occur simultaneously, and urine examination reveals proteinuria, tubular urine, and red blood cells. When acute glomerulonephritis is severe, it can cause acute renal dysfunction. If you seek medical attention promptly, you can fully recover. Be careful not to take medicine randomly on your own. Many medicines will increase the burden on your kidneys and may worsen your condition. Patients with chronic nephritis should rest in bed after the illness and pay attention to the increase in blood pressure. Take antihypertensive drugs as prescribed by your doctor when necessary.

2. What are the hazards of chronic nephritis in women?

What are the dangers of chronic nephritis in women? Experts from the Nephrology Department of Beijing Jundu Hospital tell you based on years of clinical experience: Since patients with chronic nephritis suffer from the disease for a long time, the disease often relapses, and there is a lack of effective treatment, many patients are prone to irritability, pessimism, disappointment, and even self-abandonment, which will directly damage the patient's physical and mental health and affect the condition. Therefore, a harmonious family life and care and consideration between husband and wife are very important. The husband should help his wife treat the disease correctly, maintain an optimistic mood, prevent infection, combine work and rest, live a regular life, have a moderate sexual life, and avoid excessive fatigue, which is conducive to the stability and recovery of chronic nephritis. Chronic nephritis is difficult to treat, and if it is not treated properly or in time, it may develop into uremia and endanger life. If a woman suffers from chronic nephritis, the situation will be even more serious. Chronic nephritis is very likely to cause female patients to be infertile.

People with chronic nephritis accompanied by chronic renal failure are not suitable for childbearing. After a woman with renal failure becomes pregnant, her kidneys may be overwhelmed and she may develop renal insufficiency and uremia, which is life-threatening.

Dietary taboos for patients with chronic nephritis

Limit salt intake

Edema is closely related to blood volume and sodium salt. Every gram of salt can bring in about 110 milliliters of water. If patients with nephritis consume too much salt and their urination function is impaired, the symptoms of edema will often be aggravated, blood volume will increase, and heart failure will occur. Therefore, patients with chronic glomerulonephritis must limit salt intake and be given a low-salt diet. Daily salt intake should be controlled below 2-4 grams to prevent worsening of edema and increase in blood volume, which may lead to accidents.

Limit foods high in purine and nitrogen

To reduce the burden on the kidneys, foods that stimulate kidney cells should be limited, such as spinach, celery, radishes, beans, soy products, sardines, chicken soup, fish soup, and broth. Because these foods are high in purine and nitrogen, their metabolites cannot be excreted in time when renal function is poor, which has a negative impact on renal function.

Avoid strong seasonings

Strong condiments such as pepper, mustard, coffee, chili, etc. are not good for kidney function and should be avoided. Since MSG will make you thirsty after eating too much, you should also use less MSG when limiting your water intake.

Limit plant protein

Protein intake should be determined according to renal function. Controlling protein intake can also achieve the goal of low phosphorus. Generally, it is 0.6 grams per kilogram of body weight per day, half of which is high-quality protein (animal protein rich in essential amino acids), such as eggs, lean meat, milk, etc.

Warm reminder: female patients with chronic nephritis should take good care of themselves in their lives. There are many restrictions on their diet, so you must pay more attention to it and ensure that the diet is nutritious and complete in variety.
