Uterine fundus fibroids

Uterine fundus fibroids

Uterine fibroids are a relatively common tumor. In fact, they are not that scary. As they are benign tumors, and because they are relatively common in life, there is no suitable solution at all. Fibroids at the bottom of the uterus can cause patients to have a feeling of pressure in the lower abdomen, excessive vaginal discharge, irregular menstruation and frequent abdominal pain, which can make patients very painful. Therefore, everyone should understand the impact of uterine fibroids.

What are uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are common non-malignant tumors in the female uterus. Depending on their location in the muscle distribution within the uterus, they can be divided into intramural fibroids, subserosal fibroids and submucosal fibroids. However, fibroids can also grow in multiple locations at the same time.

Generally speaking, girls under the age of 20 rarely suffer from uterine fibroids. The peak age range for the disease is between 30 and 50 years old, and most of them are benign, so patients do not need to have too heavy a mental burden. However, as time goes by, the tumors in the uterus may grow more and more or become larger, which may lead to infertility. Women of childbearing age should be extra careful.

Symptoms of uterine fibroids

1. Abnormal menstruation. The most obvious manifestation is the increase in flow and the extension of cycle time. Fibroids may change the shape and volume of the uterine cavity, affect the normal function of the muscles, and compress the veins, affecting menstrual bleeding.

2. A lump in the lower abdomen. As the intrauterine fibroids grow larger, the patient will be able to feel a noticeable swelling on the outside of the lower abdomen. The volume of the lower abdomen will gradually increase, accompanied by a noticeable feeling of heaviness.

3. Abnormal leucorrhea. The patient's leucorrhea will increase significantly and become thick and have a foul odor. Sometimes, dead flesh-like tissue may be discharged with a bad odor.

4. Frequent urination or difficulty urinating. As fibroids grow larger, they may compress the bladder or ureters, causing many abnormalities during urination.

5. Abdominal and body discomfort. Women with uterine fibroids usually feel a distended lower abdomen, which then develops into back pain or general fatigue, a phenomenon that becomes more severe during menstruation.

6. Infertility. If a woman's uterine fibroids compress or block the fallopian tubes, her chances of pregnancy will be greatly reduced.

7. Secondary anemia. Long-term extension of the menstrual period and increased menstrual volume can easily cause anemia in patients, leading to fatigue, dizziness, palpitations and many other discomforts.

8. Low blood sugar. This condition is extremely rare and disappears immediately after the tumor is removed. The patient will feel obvious dizziness or even shock when on an empty stomach, which will gradually ease after injecting a little glucose.

If the disease is not contained in time, uterine fibroids may lead to various secondary diseases. The lesions are divided into two types: benign and malignant. Generally speaking, only 0.4% to 0.8% of benign fibroids will transform into malignant tumors, but this does not mean that we do not need to be wary of the risk of cancer.
