Preparation for pregnancy in older women

Preparation for pregnancy in older women

Women usually choose to get pregnant when they are in the best physical condition, which is when they are around 30 years old. However, nowadays many women pay more attention to their careers, and thirty years old is the golden period of career development. Therefore, many women are older when they become pregnant, which is what we often call older pregnant women. So, what preparations should older women make before getting pregnant?

1. Conduct relevant health checks before pregnancy: Check whether there are any medical diseases that are not suitable for pregnancy or high-risk, such as rheumatism and immunology, hypertension, diabetes, thyroid, or liver, kidney, and blood problems. If you are sure that you do not have any major illness, you do not need to worry too much. If there are any problems that are discovered early, you can hope to treat and control them early before preparing to conceive.

2. Actively treat gynecological diseases. If menstrual disorders, cycle changes, or other gynecological diseases have already occurred, they should not be ignored. Female endocrine disorders and reproductive inflammation are the most common problems. Older women need to actively treat these diseases in order to become pregnant successfully and avoid pregnancy risks such as early miscarriage.

3. Actively regulate your physical condition. Relax your body and mind, especially your emotions. Getting enough sleep, nutrition and proper physical exercise every day will help the body balance after pregnancy.

4. Check blood pressure: As age increases, the elasticity of blood vessels decreases and the viscosity of blood increases, causing blood pressure to rise. Women with high blood pressure are advised to control their blood pressure to normal before considering pregnancy, otherwise it will lead to gestational hypertension and even convulsions and coma.

5. Older women are more susceptible to gynecological tumors, and some tumors will accelerate their development during pregnancy, so it is necessary to check for uterine, ovarian, fallopian tube tumors and cervical cancer. In addition, routine blood and urine tests, serology, genetic disease tests, etc. are also required. Before pregnancy, women should supplement with more fresh fruits and vegetables and high-quality protein.

Precautions for older women during pregnancy 1. During pregnancy, mothers should not overwork because of their older age. Many older mothers have to balance the roles of working women, doing housework, and taking care of other children. Being too busy at work puts a physical burden on them, which is very strenuous for older pregnant women.

2. Strengthen nutritional intake during pregnancy: Start taking folic acid three months before planning pregnancy to help the good development of the fetal neural tube.

3. Pay special attention in the early and late stages of pregnancy. Avoid overwork and lifting heavy objects. Pay attention to nutrition, eat more fruits, vegetables, fish, and lean meat, and avoid eating too greasy food. Go out for a walk and breathe some fresh air. Don't be stressed, keep a happy mood!

4. Arrange amniocentesis during pregnancy: The proportion of fetal chromosomal abnormalities increases in older mothers, so amniocentesis is an extremely important examination item during prenatal examinations. A domestic study showed that among the more than 160,000 amniocentesis performed between 1990 and 2000, more than 4,000 fetuses with chromosomal abnormalities were detected, half of which were from older mothers.

5. It is more difficult for older women to give birth naturally, so they need to prepare in advance. Older pregnant women have higher indications for cesarean section, and usually 90% of older pregnant women choose cesarean section. The pelvis of older pregnant women is relatively hard, the ligaments and soft birth canal tissues are less elastic, and the uterine contraction force is correspondingly weakened, which can easily lead to prolonged labor, even dystocia, fetal birth injuries and asphyxia.

As long as older women do a good job of pre-pregnancy check-up, actively treat various diseases, and adjust their lifestyle, they can also conceive a smart and healthy baby. Female friends should relax and welcome the arrival of the baby.
